Inauthenticity, a bit culture vulture-y
To generalize it a bit more, usually when artists expand into other genres it turns out s***ty and just not as good as the artists that do that genre. Like MGK attempting punk rock or whatever you would call that dogshit

I've been on here talking about the importance of self-identification and the ideas of select tribes. Not all Black people have the same experience, which I'm sure you know but this could be a teachable moment to passer byes, and/or backgrounds so it's important to have distinctions from continental Africans or other African cultures that didn't endure American colonialism. Obviously, not saying which one is what but I believe it's important for all groups to remember their oral traditions and reasons why prominent things are culturally relevant.
I personally never subscribed to being called an "African-American" or "Black" because it's exclusive and not a representation of my ethnic group. Hell, I got the same name as my father and grandfather but I'm the only one Black on a birth certificate
Not really a Pan-Africanist though this can lead into Pan-Africanism, I think that comes after nation building

This is true, which is why tribal distinctions come first in Africa to set apart who's from where, even within the same country, but as black people, we are also bound by the history of colonialism and its effects, whether it was the British or the French wilding and pillaging.
Aye, what's up with your birth certificate situation tho lol
I was answering her question which was a response to my joke leave me the f*** alone already

People from Toronto are actually against it. Many of them have said that it wasn’t a thing until recently and it started out as a joke but snowballed into become a trend wit the youth. Which would make sense considering most people from Toronto that I’ve heard speak werent speaking like that pre 2016
I’m talking about the carribbean influence
