Rap industry mocked a rapper’s age consistently. It is the most cruel genre you can veer into,

But the hilarious part is, on the business side you can be Clive Davis crypt keeper age.

This perception needs to change. But it doesn’t help when LL cool j takes off for 15 years with no album. It seems like most older veterans don’t understand they can participate & over time the rap industry perception will change.

But it can’t just be LL. More veteran rappers are going to have step out of hibernation & take the recording art form seriously again.

Man, that new Common and Pete Rock album is tough. I would love to see the old heads shaking the dust off their old frames and hitting the booth again. It can still be a young man's sport like it's always been, but the old dudes can still do their thing. It's really an unoccupied lane out here because age shaming in hip hop is crazy lol

You know I think the biggest rap hustler was Slick Rick. He turned his whole def jam contract to a waiting game.

I didn’t understand until I saw a Red Bull academy event with him. He said “I never intended to make an album, I just wanted to make a single, it was just me fooling around in the studio”

I think what he said is more insightful once you think about it. Most rappers thought they were retired after a single or one album!

It just so happened, little over time rappers built up their life span.

But now it makes so much sense why Slick Rick career went the way it did, he owed the albums to Def Jam,

But really he just wanted to stunt for this neighborhood with just one song! Because that’s really the expectation in 1985. It wasn’t until a few years later when he realized Def Jam did the impossible, they broke through on mainstream radio & mtv worldwide. And with that, he became a super hero for hip hop.

But his goal was just intended for his block!

Ye performed songs like Gold Di, Touch the sky, stronger, all of the lights, flashing light etc. while drake performed songs like IMY2, way 2 Sexy, In The Bible etc.
