Born Sinner, KOD and 4YEO show a creative limitation that he has when it comes to tryna craft concepts. He overthinks it, gets too deep in itself and the product AS A WHOLE falls flat.
Yes, there are songs from 3 of these albums that are great and i love (i just listened to chaining day today) but can i play through em as a whole no skip?
No. U can’t disregard ppl hating the kiLL edward thing as one thing cause that was a central theme of kod (seeing as edward is the name of cole’s stepfather). Or the meditate dont medicate mantra cause that was the whole point of kod lol. Or him talm bout taxes being kinda funny.
Hooks are also important so you cant disregard ppl hating on that.
4YEO just drags as an album. Neighbors one of his best work and I personally loved foldin clothes.
It’s a reason bro has been better received since just making rap albums about rapping.
Glad to hear how you feel, I respectfully disagree and will just leave it at that. I enjoy the albums and the era and give or take a few songs, I enjoy what he was doing and can comfortably listen without skipping, plus all his loosies and features from that time. To each their own

His whole thing with that album was him trying to sound like soundcloud rappers.
Why are you doing that? And if you want to do that, then you need the proper production for it. Go holla at the necessary producers.
Instead, he produced everything. Alot of it sounds out of place and don't really hit like that.
Production on Photograph is good but the hook aint it. Also why is this song placed here? You're suppose to be setting the tone for this album after KOD. It doesn't belong. The sequencing is off on this album.
His production on The Cut Off along with the Kill Edward persona was good but he ruins that song with that annoying hook. Again trying to sound like a soundcloud rapper.
He didn't do much with the Kill Edward s*** too. Kill Edward should've been the focal point of the album.
Window Pain and 1985 saved this album and both songs were suppose to be on the Fall Off.
Cole has trouble executing with his concept albums and has too many filler/ weak tracks. He needed better production for what he was trying to do. Similar issue with 4YEO but that's a different story.
He's no Kendrick Lamar when it comes to concept albums. That's for damn sure.

Only reason why Kevin's Heart stands out is because T-Minus produced it.
The same T-Minus who produced some of the best tracks on The Offseason and who had a hand producing the majority of Might Delete Later.
That's why Might Delete Later is fire.
Smartest thing he did was keep T-Minus close and let him cook.

Also has alot of yes men in the studio (Fuck IB).
