S*** is stupid as f*** if I hear any song off rip if it sounds good I will listen to it again I don’t need to be able connect with a nigga to enjoy it. When I first heard One Beer the beat was the first thing I was drawn to. That’s it. Same as Red and Gold

    What is there to dissect

bro who said anything about connecting with a nigga

    are you okay man?

Cole took 14 days to respond so Kendrick has 14 days. Thats how it works. Sorry I don’t make the rules

I'd say 7 days. Kendrick's dropped out of nowhere so Cole couldn't anticipate it. Kendrick either knew or expected Cole to release something.

expecting bentdick LAMEr to drop music is laughable

Sometimes songs just sound good and that’s all that matters. I don’t gotta explain in a dissection podcast why I like this song I just do

It doesn’t take a “Dissection Podcast” to explain why you enjoy something. You could pick any element in a song and talk about what you enjoy about it. It’s no different than talking about a movie or a book

It’s obvious you lot don’t value music much outside of listening to it socially

Need Kenny to respond over the Crocodile Tearz beat

i think they’re being obtuse on purpose because they realized they don’t even know what they like about his music

if you ask someone why they liked a particular book or movie, they could tell you why, for some reason music is left out of this all of the sudden

Yea I get what you’re saying. I don’t mind people who just like it cause they like it, I know a lot of people aren’t well versed in music breakdown or whatever. But it also leads to the discussion, then if you can’t talk about the music, what does it give you that keeps you coming back?

Like my girl can’t break down melodies with music theory, but she can get into a historical discussion of the impact an album had on a particular society and gain a deeper appreciation for the album that way past “I like (whatever song) cause it sounds good” it now becomes “I like (whatever song) cause it sounds good and when I was learning more about the album and it’s impact, I found that this song and the album became the sound of a generation” and other s*** like that where someone who connects with it musically can expand on your research and we can both learn about other s*** that may have been looked over like idk, the affect of certain sounds on how humans act or just how far a particular song/project/sound reached and how it’s important to whatever society it’s a part of.

I think it just adds to maintaining the cultural value of music in our lives. But it’s whatever, I know that we have reached a point in society where no approach is wrong, so even the simplest approach to appreciating something has to be acknowledged and taken as seriously an in-depth approach. Thats the beauty of art, you may care a lot about something that someone just simply ain’t as invested in but they also equally like

where did i say it needs to be in depth lol

the fact every single time you critique Drake’s work on this site and the NPC response is “it’s still being streamed” or “it had like 3 hits” is anti-art

tell me what you like about his music outside of the numbers, it’s a music discussion site

A lot of Drake stans are not interested in music as art full stop. It's a purely social thing for them. They see music as a a way of facilitating social interactions and groupings (real or imagined in the case of some more chronically online stans) and aren't concerned about quality or even meaning really. Listening to Drake for them is like following a sports team. I can't even hate at that point because it's just a completely different perspective, but idk why they would bother to come to music forums

Just because Drake is the biggest rapper in the world, it doesn't mean his fans are mindless, algorithm-driven drones
