Yeah because it took real craft to make mr morale lmao

You man are too pretentious and have to pretend everything is deeper than it is.

If drake took 5 years and came with that s*** you would all clown him lol

Album came and went REAL quick

Drake doesn’t take 5 years for anything and releases music that is consistently way below anything Kendrick has put out.

Even discounting Mr.Morale, nothing he’s done recently is on par with GKMC, TPAB or DAMN at all. Not even uu either.

Why don’t you like Morale? Thought it was amazing

I like the fact that it helped him deal with whatever he was going through. I just think it wasn't executed as well as his other albums.

He does get introspective, a lot more than people give him credit. Now, as for the topics he chooses to dwell on getting stale, that's another conversation

he does some but its one thing to see yourself in the mirror its another to not want to change a little bit more from where he is at to help fans see themselves and grow too. Again I could be wrong I could relisten to all the dogs and hear something y'all hear from spending more time with it more memories and seeing what y'all see but currently I dont

I am fully open to seeing it though

Saying this about MMATBS is hilarious.

Just say you don't value fruitful substance and call it a day.

There's a few angles he could work although it would be hard

    • Cheating on his (black) wife with a white woman
    • Contrasting that with the fact that he's a conscious rapper who tries to talk about uplifting our community and our struggles, very hypocritical and undermines his whole image
    • Dissecting his savior complex (Kendrick kinda already beat him to this though)
    • Criticizing profiting off racial stress and anxiety, calling him not a Messiah but a black capitalist like the rest of them (this is a bit too real though and would implicate most of the industry)
    • addressing the mixed messaging from Kendricks end
    • get to the root of their disagreement and acknowledge that they're in two different lanes and will never see eye to eye because hip hop is a diverse genre and the "GOAT" is an arbitrary title that hasn't been truly applicable in hip hop since the 80s (I don't think Drake or anyone has even matured to realize this though)

Basically he'd have to go political and social and I cant imagine Drake finally doing that since he's tried hard to purposely be apolitical for his whole career which I honestly think was smart. Kendrick chose the right battle, clever move.

Cole content wise isn't even remotely close to Kendrick for me like I genuinely don't connect with it. Its not a slight to him I love his features but his albums dont do it for me personally

I could see that. His other albums are certified classics. Impossible to maintain that execution but I thought it was close.

also something that kind of goes unsaid

I commend an artist a lot more for having fts knowing how to use them to bring out the best of everyone and create a new unexpected style vs bragging about no features

What does a sold out arena tour have to do with my perceived quality of the album or its impact?

Idk any other way impact can be measured. Tough to objectively comment on quality too besides personally IMO

Why should he have to change his life so fans can be inspired by that change? Do y'all ask this of Future, who has been making the most hedonistic music in rap for over a decade? No, y'all love him for it and implore him to not change. So, why does Drake have to change his content? Especially when people still go up for it?

Drake has changed a lot actually. If you listen to an album like NWTS and then listen to FATD, you hear how he's grown jaded, even immature. He used to be vulnerable and sincere, and got shat on at every chance for it. The Drake is fruity/soft meme went on forever and was still happening during Her Loss (21, can you do sum for meee). He's shelled up now, and some can see it as regressing. I think it's sad all around

You’re an idiot. Music is someone expressing themselves in audio-visual format. It doesn’t have to “entertain” anyone in order for it to be considered music. Art isn’t “meant” to do anything. It’s simply expression.

Placing a one-size fits all on what art is doesn’t make sense. Stop embarrassing yourself in here.

This probably the realest response I've seen itt

Maybe but he did it with Morale. Which isn’t a hypothetical or actually happened

But I won’t beg you to like MMBS I get it. He has the best catalogue ever and that bar is high

I guess the point of this thread is that cole shouldn’t be ever mentioned in the same sentence as him when it comes to making music.

Oh brother, using homophobia from others to justify why an artist isn’t good anymore is just weird lol
