Drake had that odd switch up in 2014/2015 where he wanted to be seen as the mob boss guy right off the back of all those “Drake the type of guy…” jokes. He grew up idolizing real emcees and then never really got their respect, and even lost it after the ghostwriting s***, so he started calling himself the undisputed GOAT to make up for it. He grew up idolizing artists that were actually tied into “mob s***” or whatever, but never really got involved himself so he put on the facade because his image was the polar opposite of that.
It just feels like everything he says and does is layered under like 3 levels of validation seeking. He just never got to be the type of person he idolized, so he tries to copy what they do and burns bridges in the process.
I don’t wanna psychoanalyze the guy but everything Drake does just feels so fabricated, it just makes sense why these industry relationships would be too
