Needless to say, I was skeptical that Drake would get a good deal signing with Young Money. After reading an L.A. Times Music Blog article detailing the mechanics of Drake’s deal, my skepticism has been put to rest. I’m actually pretty impressed.

Here’s the breakdown of Drake’s record deal:

Drake is signed with Aspire/Young Money/Cash Money Records and is distributed by Universal
Drake got a $2 million advance (I’ll give you a moment to read that again)
Drake retains the publishing rights to his songs and only pays 25% of his music sales revenues to the label as a “distribution fee”

Man I’m neutral in this. I think Kendrick has better albums and is a better writer but it’s rare when he brings hard tracks with bars like Drake does and I honestly play those more. S*** like Tuscan Leather, AM/PM tracks, Lemon Pepper Freestyle, No Tellin etc.

But it’s funny how Drake stans sit online, Troll and d*** ride all day but say Kendrick fans are Reddit nerds. Like bro you on KTT2 all day calling someone else a nerd for being on the internet all day lmao

The distribution fee is for Universal they get 25%, doesn't name what Aspire/YM/CM get, that's not even getting into how Aspire sued Birdman and Cash Money for not paying money that Jas prince was owed in that deal
