JbreezyondeckProbably deserves its own thread at a different time but 06-11 probably like my favorite era of music ever. So many different things going on like
- Kanye peaking and really ushering the genre into new territory
- All around more positive messages within music. Think there’s a strong correlation about the general music sound and the energy of people in society (again another thread for another day)
- The best (idc I said it) generation of rappers starting their infancy stages of popularity and taking the influences and work of Wayne, Kanye, Jay and others while putting it into a new younger sound
- Accessibility through limewire, YouTube, MySpace etc to discover all types of new niche music, artists and genres
So much more man was just a really fun time to grow up it really helped hone my love from music from just being a casual listener
yeah I could talk about this for hours too, lol all valid points
Black Eyed Peas an example of now being quite corny but at the time needed those positive messages, we as a community now are over “where is the love” type music we are so removed from that
The death for that was I think between LMFAO - Gangnam Style. I think we reached levels of embarrassment now when we look back but they all seemed honest in their approach
the way beatmakers making music around that period is interesting considering the rise of EDM, and the use of those sounds in beat packs
IM ON ONE with drake, Khaled etc and the countless EDM remixes of all hip hop in clubs really had us over it
We had chance try to do something reminiscent, and that is a clear example about how far removed we are as a society from this kind of s***. I’m not blaming any one but yeah your post reminded me of this

I would say from 2011 to 2014 or 2015 rap was really transitioning it was something for everyone
