Mini-essay incoming. TLDR: We're gearing up for what could potentially be the biggest moment in Hip-Hop ever. Legacies built up over nearly two decades are on the line here.

Here’s how I think Round 1 and 2 will play out:

Kendrick will drop a fire diss that does damage. Make no mistake, he’ll aim to kill. Think of it as a mini-nuke. At the very least, he’ll end up drawing blood.

But he won’t overplay his hand.

Drake has signaled he has inside info on Kendrick’s dealings with TDE (50% split) and insight into conversations between Top Dawg and Kendrick.

Sidebar: Yeah, I think the "Top wanna peace it up?" refrain is referring to a conversation Kendrick had with Top after leaving TDE and founding PGLang. It's not about J.Cole, rapgenius got it wrong. Drake's trying to get in Kendrick's head and scare him with the fact that he knows more than he should.

Drake has already signaled he has an extended version of Push Ups with a beat switch that he wants to drop immediately after Kendrick's response.

That's why he keeps posting "🐢" and doxxing (lol) Kendrick's manager. Drizzy never did with this Pusha T or Meek. This nigga is supremely confident right now. Kendrick knows all this, which is why he’ll save the real kill shot for later just in case.

Once Kendrick drops, Drake will drop his nuke and try finish off Kendrick in one swift blow, to the point where he believes Kendrick won’t respond and will be forced to bow out. The same way Push did to him with Adidon. It’s his only real move, but it would be super effective if it works. If he has the dirt he believes he has, it may very well work.

Kendrick knows this, which is why he’s saving his nuke for afterwards. But Drake clearly believes he can shut Kendrick up with his next response, which leaves us at a stalemate. It's anyone's game at that point.

I think both artist are over prepared for what happens next.

Imma be so sad if this happens, like drake rlly got crazy dirt that Kendrick can’t do s***

Drake didn’t post the diss anywhere official, but is clearly mocking/teasing because he has SOMETHING big. Rick Ross trolling making the whole thing look unserious, Metro might stay tweeting, but the whole thing can just stop here and be forgotten about down the line.

Kendrick can just not reply, most his fans could happily just switch and take the “high road” - worked for Drake when it was Pusha T. Only thing is Kendrick has really been talking that talk for a while, he’s got something to actually PROVE now and he can definitely hit lyrically. We really just have to wait and see

I’m worried that this “Round 1” stalemate stays that way and Kendrick holds off entirely NOW (instead of later down the line like you expect)

    It's possible but I don't think it's likely.

Drake tried to put him in check. He hinted at all this inside info he has and warned him "this ain't even everything I know don't wake the demon up," to try and scare Kendrick.

But then he name dropped Whitney. So if Kendrick doesn't respond he'll look even worse than J.Cole. That's why I think Kenny will try to aim for the kill on the next one, but maybe hold off on a bigger nuke for later. It's a delicate ting

yeah kendrick's definitely not in a position where he can go mysterious mode and disappear for another year until his next album, and i don't think that's what he intends to do anyways. he initiated the beef and drake took him up on it and made it intensely personal, he has to see it through to the end.
