Those were labeled side projects. Her Loss was labeled an album.

Drake’s album outsold Kendrick’s. Thanks for playing.

What was Honestly Nevermind labeled as?

What was Honestly Nevermind labeled as?

One of a three album trifecta (CLB, HN, Her Loss) that would undoubtedly prove Drake was a bigger name

CLB > Mr. Morale > Honestly Nevermind

    For sales. Indisputable

Drake is the definition of a mainstream pop star who constantly puts out the most mainstream songs one could imagine, whereas Kendrick hardly ever sacrifices his artistry on his albums, but still...

Kendricks last album, DAMN, which is a 14 song album sold 600k first week

Drakes last album, Scorpion, which is a 25 song album sold 720k first week

This is only a measly 120k more than Kendrick, despite having 11 more songs on his album than Kendrick and having three #1 records as well as the biggest meme song ever (In My Feelings)

Also, Damn was released 3 years ago when Hip Hop still wasnt at peak popularity.

I can GUARANTEE this next Kendrick album will OUTSELL both Drakes and Coles latest projects and I will bump this thread once the prediction comes true (unless the Drake groupie mods decide to lock it).

The whole world is waiting to see if Kendrick will be able to drop his fourth classic in a row, which is enough hype to already generate crazy numbers.

    EDIT:

This isnt just some random thread about charts.

This is about the biggest musician on Earth being dethroned once and for all after a long ass reign and Kendrick finally solidifying himself as the real GOAT by having both critical acclaim as well as sales to back up those claims.

This next album will FINALLY put an end to ALL Kendrick/Drake comparisons.

I honestly didnt think this needed an explanation but yall slow af I guess

Also, yall hatin on me for tryna fit in with yall by discussing sales, but if this thread was about actual music quality it would have never even made it to page 2 🤦🏽‍♂️

Remember that bundles are no longer a thing and digital sales are dead. All Kendrick will have to go on will be streams. Streams which will be much lower than the streams from DAMN if his next project isn't as commercially appealing as DAMN was. Also, Drake is a bigger streaming artist than Kendrick. You'll lose this bet easily. You just played yourself.

People think it'll be easier to do 500/600K SPS units henceforth are dumb. Pure sales are dead. Digital sales are dead. Bundles are no longer allowed and pulling even 400 million US streams in a week isn't an easy thing. Even Post Malone couldn't do it with the album he dropped last year.

MMATBS did 343M US streams btw.

The real debate should be how anytime anyone wants to demonstrate any other rapper's success, they bring Drake up. We can all talk about Drake's success without bringing anyone else up, but the same can't be said for Kendrick. All this thread had to say was Kendrick would outdo the numbers he did with DAMN. but no, Drake had to be brought into the discussion.

You completely missed my point. Drake is always the benchmark for other rappers. There's a reason why his name comes up when other rappers drop albums. Just wait. When Kendrick drops his album, people will spend more time trying to use his album to try to pull Drake down by comparing both of them instead of just enjoying Kendrick's album for what it is. The person who made this thread has a Drake obsession himself.

    Welp.

Post Malone is a bigger streaming artist than Kendrick. If he isn't doing 400 million US streams first week with his latest album, neither is Kendrick.

    Welp.
    Hollywood's Bleeding - 365M US streams
Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers - 343M US streams

Idk man… it’s a Drake album and it outsold Kendrick’s album. What’s hard to understand?

Did OP say Drake X 21???

If he did, then ya there'd be merit, but nah if we talkin solo projects then

He's 100% not. Kendrick will outdo Post's streaming performance on his next album.

Your posts are usually smart, but this is a dumb post. I'll be sure to refer back to it when Kendrick's first week stream numbers drop.

I'm not. DAMN. was his most accessible album as far as being really mainstream. There's no evidence that he'll go that route again. We also have to consider that.

Okay. I'll revisit this thread when Kendrick's first week numbers come out. No need to argue.

Kendrick took too long to drop and I totally forgot about this thread. Smh.

  • A Mad Ass Nigga

Kendrick sold 603k fw in 2017

    Drake last album sold 732k

And Damn dropped when streaming wasn’t as strong as it is now. The gap isn’t as big as you’re making it seem.

    Welp.

  • thegreatdivine

I'm not denying that. Me saying Kendrick won't do DAMN's numbers isn't about me being a hater. It's being sensible. Post Malone in 2019 is a bigger artist than Post Malone in 2018 but he still did lower numbers with his 2019 album than his 2018 album. I don't even think Drake will match Scorpion's numbers. This isn't because they've lost their appeal. It's because the industry is dead. Digital and physical sales are dead.

Drake pulled 750 million US streams with Scorpion. That's like 550K units and I don't see Kendrick or even Drake doing that number again.

I tried to tell you niggas almost 3 years ago. I really did.
