Yeah the negatives of what he said could be attributed to a realist mentality though. He was mostly projecting from his apparent livelihood and life experience what "value" the kind of people would bring into a relationship with the kind of person they were looking for if the basis of what they were looking for was transactional to begin with: "I want a man that makes this many figures" etc

There's things I like about him, and there's things I don't like about him, but he sure as hell do not deserve to have his death be seen as a good thing by folks who just can't handle his blunt approach.

And to be quite fair: what I did see of Kevin Samuels, I never really liked nor cared for his advice. He never created a broader conversation of why the women that looked for the men they wanted did. He just mostly talked within the spectrum of their interest like a questionnaire and dunked on their dreams with little recourse lol It's not how I'd like people who seek advice be helped but I digress

This is my main critique of him. It never went below the surface with most of his conversations. There are real issues and real strife between black men and women and I don’t know if what he was preaching and also the way he went about preaching it was ultimately helpful in bringing the community together. With his death, it doesn’t seem like anything has changed. We still gon be arguing about the same s***.

I don't think he was like a pundit for black change or what have you--even though I understand that's not what you're saying--I think he was just an alternate, outspoken very polarizing lol figure in the black community that was mostly misunderstood. People tend to be reactionary to anything perceived as vitriolic, because we're not very good at extracting the venom from things nor taking any form of disrespect from people, even remotely. People tend to have very little patience for things, especially strangers. So when you have a Kevin Samuel handling you like a deli butcher when he's supposed to be giving you a massage, it's seen as odd and irritable
