Based on the video floating around, it doesn’t seem like she deserved to be kicked. I think she was actually defending being “illegal” not chastising it, and you know people on Twitter had to be overly sensitive and take things out of context the first chance they got like they always do.

With that being said, she knew after already being under fire for the assumption that she was Republican, that she should have just not mentioned anything political at all whether right or wrong. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom from consequences outside of the government. She put being potentially controversial over the money and that’s on her knowing the climate and her stance within it.
