I haven't liked a Cudi solo album since MOTM2 but I still wouldn't say he's overrated. A lot of people hate his music and think he's a trash musician. It evens out.

In the context of Kanye's work, Cudi is a genius. They really make each other better.

i listened to motm1 and thought yea he's overrated, but later listened to sb2h and now i think the appeal of him is simply how assured he is of putting raw, sometimes seemingly inane thoughts on his record. it's a lot of real emotion that isn't flowered up at all (haven't listened to ppds so i can't comment if that's changed in recent times), which i think a lot of current music listeners would have trouble with because ... they need excitement and an excess of stimulation, but if you can look past that i do think he has a lot to offer and that's only after listening to 2 records

True. I’m a huge Cudi fan and completely understand that he’s not everyone. I like everything he does, even that weak ass rock album but it’s because I like Cudi as a person. Like his character and story always connected with me. So it’s like watching a big brother do his thing even when the s*** sounds off.
