    modern 10/10 classic no doubt

Second favorite Kanye album and vastly underappreciated. People will understand just how creative and substantive it manages to be in just a 23 minute run time years down the line.

I think it's the first time since MBDTF he had an idea, he knew completely how he wanted to execute it, and he fully developed it. There are so many different elements in the lyrics. You get a sense of how manic he is with his abrupt "grat tat tat"s in Feel the Love, to his more calm self confidence in Fire, to his coming to terms with his s***addiction on 4th Dimension, to his super elevated level on Freee (one end of the bipolar spectrum), to his more depressed state on Reborn where he discusses his struggles, to his self reflection and inflated egoism that makes Kanye Kanye on the title track but also with a hint of recognition of his flaws, to finally an outward-looking perspective that Kanye takes on the world around him on Cudi Montage where he revisits his spirituality. It's a holistic representation of Kanye's mental state over the past few years. We even get a self aware Kanye who embraces the meme of "Scoop!" from Lift Yourself on Freee, suggesting he's at a point where he doesn't always have to take himself so seriously all the time.

And the album is filled with cool lines like his 4 bars on Cudi Montage where he plays with difference meanings of "peace" and "piece," his art references on Kids See Ghosts, his "I won't finish the sent-" line on 4th Dimension, etc. And then you get a ton of different deliveries and flows from Ye across the album, as well. He raps in a way that seems "off beat" on the title track, but really he's just putting together his rhymes at even points in the time signature rather than odd. He sings on Freee. He seamlessly switches up his flow on 4th Dimension. He gives us some great sounding lines with assonance on 4th Dimension. And on Cudi Montage we just get a cutthroat traditional rap from Kanye.

It's so cool because the whole album is Kanye working with Cudi through his mental health struggles and ending up in a place where he can take a look at the issues that are bigger than himself. Now, he's done changing himself and he's comfortable in his own skin, and it's time to address all the violence and inequality in the world. Also, I haven't even mentioned how consistently great and variable the production is while still maintaining its psychedelic vibe. Or how fantastic Cudi's contributions are, who focuses more on the recovery aspect than the struggle aspect that Kanye focuses on.

It's a perfect album to me, and it honestly blows me away still how meticulously crafted it is. It's one you really have to just sit down with a good pair of headphones and fully immerse yourself in for its 23 minute run time that manages to feel a lot longer because of how dense and substantive it is.

It’s in my Top 3 favorite Kanye albums. Hell, maybe Top 2. Deadass played this album over 1200 times. Everything about it is perfect.

I love how on Feel The Love, they show the new generation that they can make trap music just as great as everyone else. And when Pusha’s “love to f*** to trap music” line comes in, and Ye starts losing his s***, is so f***ing nuts.

The way it transitions from Feel The Love>Fire is similar to Dark Fantasy>Gorgeous.

Then when Reborn transitions into Kids See Ghosts, s*** gets real so f***ing quick. Going from super emotional track to intense as f*** track. Just like Runaway>Hell of a Life.

Finally, when the synths build as Kanye is saying “Lord shine your light on my save me please” on Cudi Montage.

So many wonderful moments about this album. I could go on forever. Helped me with depression & dark thoughts so many times. 15/10 album.

Hey Spookyghost, I never had account on KTT but lurked quite often. I wanted to say I 1000% appreciate you for saying so many positive things about KSG when it initially dropped. Nice to know I wasn’t the only one who saw the light & how much of a gem this album is.

Wow this is so spot on to me. And the observation about Kanye's rhyming on the title track is something I had never realized before
