I just came out from watching this and holy s***.. it’s got to be probably my favorite action movie of the year for the first 40 minutes it’s played as a action romance that’s a PG-13 at worst… until it hits you in the face with some of the most visceral action you’ll see this year. From that point on it’s super engaging, my crowd was loving every second of it and cheering at certain parts. I had no idea what this movie was till last week too! If you got nothing else to watch definitely check this out.
@op is the story dope or is it more like a vehicle to showcase good stunts/gory violence
I just get cautious when the marketing focuses on one aspect of the film, like "The horniest film to ever come out The Philippines" ayt but is it a good film overall

I think for the first 40 minutes I was questioning why it was paced the way it was, until it finally hit then it made me appreciate it more from that point on. I think it does way more with the type of film it is then others like beekeeper for example. If it was generic or only the action stood out I wouldn’t have made a thread for it
This movie stood out so much the John Wick director is gonna remake it in English
Even though I don’t think it’s necessary

Have you seen Kill yet? Pretty hype to shut my brain off and enjoy a bunch of gnarly gore and kills

This is a Hollywood trend that's questionable. They did this with Oldboy (2003), and Rec (2007), but because the movies require subtitles and showcase unfamiliar faces, we gotta remake the whole thing?

I watched it today and if you go in with that mindset you’ll probably love this tbh

I think most Hollywood remakes are rarely superior or even at the same level as the originals, this and s*** like train to busan make no sense either cause it’s so based on what’s going on rather then any dialogue that needs to be translated or westernized
S***s so unnecessary

Wasn’t “The Ring” a remake too?
Releasing here today, will probably watch this weekend
If anyone wants to watch a great Indian movie from this year, I highly recommend Laapata Ladies which is a genuinely very entertaining social comedy. Should be on Netflix.
when is it out on digital?
I’m sure once it’s close to concluding in theaters we’ll know more
Between this and Longlegs @op is on a legendary run
Saw it on Friday.
Insane movie. Easily the best action movie of the year lmao and probably a decade for me if you disregard stuff like John Wick which is more of gun fights.
Not sure if an American remake would have the same magic but still excited how they adapt the setting.
It's not plot heavy but it's still very entertaining, feels like a action-heavy chess game with every different thug with something different in their moveset and both the teams using their best strategies to Trump the other.
Must watch for action fans. I was really not expecting that much gore.

Kinda sad that fat guy from the villain team who blocked the cell signals and pretended to be a normal passenger didn't end up dying unless I missed it

Better than The Raid?
