No one going to listen to that. Where does it says she signed a deal?
Do ur googles
You got an idea but Spotify is no trying to diversify revenue streams. That's a cliche thing to say.
They have been for years making Podcast a main part of the platform.
It would be at least 3-5 years until they start seeing any significant revenue from podcasts.
That's not cliche at all. Their business model is heavily reliant on music streaming because a majority of its revenues are paid back in royalties to music companies. They want to diversify streaming so it comes from non-music content because royalties eat into their margins significantly. Why else do you think they are currently trying to re-negotiate their royalty deals with music companies. Podcasts also diversify revenues because they can also increase advertising sales.
Also, currently spotify has to pay music companies a minimum proportion of its revenues that it receives from subscriptions, regardless of how much music is actually streamed in comparison to podcasts/radio. The music companies are concerned that during these re-negotiations spotify are arguing that they can have a justification for decreasing this minimum proportion that they have to pay out of those revenues.
You're right that they've have been focusing on podcasts and that's because of the push to diversify. But this has only been within the last two years, it's only now they've been spending millions buying up podcasts startups and signing on JoeRogan. Otherwise yeh it could take 3-5years.
Kanye is going to be the first guest and they'll announce their lip gloss partnership
Kanye is going to openly support queer people by selling them s*** and taking away their money

They been spending a lot on podcast. Not just now.
They weren't signing podcast start-ups for $500m or spending c. $100m on joe rogan, hence why I said it's only now they've been spending millions.
So no, they weren't spending a lot on podcasts prior to this, the company has literally just committed to spending half a bill to these kind of deals.
