Yeah like I really have not been able to wrap my mind around how the wealthy oligarchs in this country are happy that their stock prices and wealth could tank if/when we go into a recession

because trump already has / will in the future cut regulations / laws that cost them money (ie. metas moderation team)

But does that offset their plunging profit margins when people all over the world refuse to spend their tightening savings on consumer goods and non-necessities?

This comment seems completely unrelated to me — it doesn’t address why the wealthy would like stock prices to plummet and a recession?

The tariffs are not needed in order to give them the deregulation, tax breaks, etc. They’re totally unrelated

the question was "are the wealthy people around trump happy" and i was saying "yes probably because they are going to get plenty of cuts that offset the tariffs"

the tariffs are unavoidable with trump in office, thats a fact at this point, would you not rather be friendly with him and get cuts to help offset? or be unfriendly and just suffer?

im not condoning it, im canadian this s*** sucks, im just stating pretty obvious things i think

So are these tariffs then just 100% Trump and everyone around him is just going along with it to placate him with the thought that, yeah, Democrats will probably win in 2026 and 2028 and rescind these silly tariffs, but we’re happy with what we’ve got done and can just ride it out until then?

54% tariff on China is insane.

  • Apr 2, 2025

Increased consumer prices only marginally affect the wealthy, and stock dips are always temporary so they can weather the recession while scooping up winners on discount.
