I don’t think they will vote for a release of the files.
Instead they will use the vote to strike a deal with Trump.
“We vote no if you do this..” kinda deal.

House will 100% vote yes. They have the numbers just off the 218 that signed the petition. And now that it’s a floor vote there’s several dozen GOP lawmakers who generally support release of Epstein files.

The issue is it then goes to the Senate which is a different ballgame. It’s far harder to get 60 on board. And then even if that passes it goes to the Presidents desk, which he’d either have to sign or veto

Trumps trying to get ahead of the curve by making it just about the House vote cus he knows that’s lost

Doing my annual ethics training and reading “federal employees shall not hold financial interests that conflict with their duties or engage in financial transactions using nonpublic government information”
    how intriguing for politicians

What is interesting is that theoretically one piece we should be getting officially released is the Birthday Book (unless they try to redact that, which would be really on the nose).

Trump and MAGA supporters still deny it’s real, so that will be interesting to see how they respond to it being released officially

Also, I’m not sure how many “fans” MTG has, but prob not the best time to be openly going to war with what is probably one of the most influential Q Anon type figures in American Politics when you’re about to try to either prevent the Epstein files from being released or redact a s*** ton of info from them.

Assuming Q Anon people won’t notice is terrible strategy

You're forgetting that qAnon rocks with Trump more than anyone else.

They never cared for the truth.

He's saying to release the files now

They finished redacting the files, Trump is ready for all the smoke now that everything is in place for him

When Trump slips away from this, there's gonna be a whole lot of folks celebrating on behalf of MAGA. Folks who were laughing at the gay Trump memes gonna suddenly be like "Dems with another L, can't stop Teflon Don the Don "

People gonna be riding his d***, watch smh. I already see the bots on reddit waking up, s*** was looking bleak for Trump for like the last 2 weeks, but today I noticed a big uptick of people with pro Trump messages. People saying Dems are going to start grasping at straws and s*** like that (which is true, but damn am I watching the narrative for the week get set up in real time? )

I feel like there is lopsided expectations here on what is going on and why. Trump is adding to that confusion intentionally. We're not getting what we want soon and Trump can't twist his way out of the pressure. The Epstein case hasn't gone away in 6 years now.

The House vote tomorrow won't release the files. A bill passed by Congress must go to the Senate, and then if passed by the Senate, must be signed by the President to become law. This will pass the House, but the Senate and Majority Leader Thune have always indicated they'll shoot this down, stall a vote, or make it impossible to get the 60 votes it needs to pass. Even after that, Trump can just veto.

Trump and DOJ can also just release files themselves. Trump's tweet had intentional language around "legally entitled" which makes it clear that they're launching the DOJ investigation against Democrats as an effort to seal whatever documents they claim are legally sensitive to an active investigation, or just cherrypick docs.

I dont think anyone is holding their breath waiting for Donnie to get jail time. Dems' goal is to muddy his name and make it radioactive politically. We'll see if it sticks for midterms

I'm sure within Congress there is genuine desire to release files, but its also clear this is a (very good and dangerous) attempt to politically bind Trump in a scandal that could harm his presidency.

Trump had to throw fake support behind congress because anywhere from 50-100+ republicans were going to vote yes. This was going to be the biggest sign of cracking power so he's supporting it now to avoid embarrassment.

Even if they make it through this, elections are next year and Dems are favorable to regain at least the House. If that happens, there's nothing Trump can do to halt investigations, subpoenas, delay scheduling and a likely impeachment (leading to a public Senate trial). He'd be a lame duck until 2028 at best case.

If Trump knows he's cooked 2026 is going to be a very wild year. The s*** he's going to do intice voters for midterms or just to f*** us all over because his hands will be tied are going to rock the country.

I think he's pretty f***ed this time. There's cracks in congress, a deflated MAGA base he's alienated now, and is on the verge of the Supreme Court overturning his power to personally tariff other nations. Economy isn't doing well (won't even release jobs numbers), lost every important endorsement he made in recent elections, Misconduct on Comey case, etc...

His power is hallowing in real time. I don't see the avenue for himself being the spark of energy to voters as it stands. GOP redistricting and those type of tricks are his best bet. And if someone like MTG survives his attacks, what message does that send to other Republicans?

Prob will try his best to scorch earth but we'll see
