Doubt there is one. A lot of this comes to personal gripes by guys like Rubio and Trump. And attempting to show force in one of the only regions they convincingly can at this point.

US in general is desperate to oust Maduro and the last Trump admin tried to install their own President which failed. As balance of power shifts elsewhere, US is resorting to old school Monroe Doctrine and adventures in Latin America again.

real reason is Marco Rubio's personal grudge against Maduro.

He doesn't like Maduro's influence on Cuba (his homeland) and hates Latin dictators in general.

Now that he's secretary of state, he most likely got into Trump's ear and convinced him to do this and they're doing it under the guise of "stopping d****".

The other big reason is China's influence with Venezula.

China loans Venezula billion of dollars and provides political support for the Maduro government. They have huge influence on Venezula so it's also a good preemptive strike to combat China's influence.

US and China relations haven't been the best in recent years.
