Some race bait zoomer channel blew the story up again with a viral video about it, presenting it all as new and ongoing and highly hitting on the Somali aspect, the right wing blue tick apparatus did their thing by fermenting anti immigrant sentiment with a shiny ‘new’ anger inducing story. The video was also really sloppy and had a bunch of proven malice, lies and exaggerations.

and the Trump admin has responded saying they’re withholding childcare funds to Minnesota in light of the new attention on it all.

So I think these are real schemes that happened and were/were in the process of being prosecuted, but some new Internet attention attaching urgent anti immigration stuff to it has made it a big thing
