Hi, I'm Kodak White and these are my Top 10 Best Albums of 2022. I mainly based it on my own perceived replay value, which ones did I listen to the most?
10. Tove Lo - Dirt Femme
Definitely not Tove Lo's best work, but as you can see, it made this list. An album full of solid bangers and some slow vibes. I especially love the three track run from 7-9 with some very elite dancepop cuts. I wouldn't start here with Tove Lo's catalog but it was a lovely extra cherry on top of the 2022 pop pie.
9. Lolo Zouaï - PLAYGIRL
I am a huge Lolo supporter and her second album continues to show her unique lane of pop and the different lanes she can occupy. From sampling a 2003 Too $hort song in the electropop intro that rivals another song that will be mentioned later to the sexy r&b cuts, this album is just a lovely ride front to back. The rollout and the visuals for this album were also top notch, she really personalized and characterized this album with the concept of the PLAYGIRL, DREAMGIRL, and PARTYGIRL. You can tell she took her time with this. There are no skips, and it is short and sweet. Strong recommend.
8. Lil Uzi Vert - Red & White EP
Short & sweet, Uzi has always been one of my favorite rappers. At first, I wasn't really feeling this project but now it is a staple in my queues. Glock in my Purse speaks to me as a vamp. Just some solid bangers front to back, no complaints.
7. Homixide Gang - Homixide Lifestyle
In my opinion, this is the best product of Opium that isn't Playboi Carti. Ken Carson is very one-dimensional in a bad way, even though he is growing on me and has a few songs that I like. I liked NO STYLIST, especially at the gym, but I am a sucker for the types of beats featured on here. I can't quite put my finger on it, but the best word I can come up with is Carti-core. Creative beats, fun flows, excellent bops to slap any time. No song overstays its welcome, and this tape stays in rotation.
6. Flo Milli - You Still Here, Ho?
Excellent, insanely fun pop-rap album full of Y2K vibes and catchy hooks. The main selling point is always Flo Milli's incredibly sassy delivery. If you've ever wanted to be b****ed out or be the b****, this album is for you. Hottie & Pay Day are the best tracks on this album. I wish Flo Milli was more popular.
5. The Weeknd - Dawn FM
Not Abel's best work, but I enjoyed it more than After Hours. A solid pop album full of bangers and vibes and The Weeknd just continuing that stadium arena vibe that he was doing on the previous album. Going to his house at Halloween Horror Nights added to the vibes and overall a very replayable, slept on album by the masses. So many hits that weren't hits due to Weeknd oversaturation. Not even his fault, though.
4. Kim Petras - S*** Pop/Problematiqué
I can't say it enough. I love Kim Petras. Now as far as a certain producer and his level of involvement with the former project, that is another thread for another day. I have an insane amount of conspiracy theories and concerns. However, I can say, the simple europop beats with the real h**** lyrics just speak to me in ways that other music just doesn't. They Wanna F*** is just a pure rush of serotonin in song form. I can't live without it.
Problematique is one of a few alleged scrapped studio albums rejected by the label in 2022. It is a collection of pop bangers with a Paris Hilton feature of all things. Two singles were released for this project with performances at the MTV VMAs Pre-Show and the MTV EMAs. It is a damn shame this album wa never released as there are so many potential hits on here. It is a great listen for my fellow poptimists here. This is Kim's XCX World.
3. Gunna - DS4Ever
A bunch of insanely replayable bangers. Thank god WUNNA is free. I am just salty that the original Deluxe version was never released, Occupation slaps. My favorite track on here is P Power, I just love the way this collection of fire songs was put together, I believe this is certainly Gunna's strongest body of work to date. He knows his lane and he does what he does.
2. Drake & 21 Savage - HER LOSS
I was not a big fan of Honestly, Nevermind. The only song on there that got consistent plays from me was Jimmy Cooks. Drake & 21 have the secret sauce, the hot run they've been on with Mr Right Now -> Knife Talk -> Jimmy Cooks lead into this amazing project. Drake sounds hungry again, he got that fire in him again. It is a bar mitzvah the way he is spitting on this. I listened to this album exclusively for over 3 weeks. This is Drake's best project since More Life. If you like to have fun and have a good vibe, this is a good album. Otherwise, go be sad somewhere else.
1. FKA Twigs - CAPRISONGS
A perfect "mixtape", front to back. I am not a fan at all of literally anything else she has ever made. Don't know why, I keep giving it chances and I still do not like her old stuff. Too weird and abstract for me. The intro is my most scrobbled song of all time on last.fm.
I hate how Twigs treated this though. She did no interviews and barely promoted it aside from giving the most banger Spotify description I've ever seen with this album. It's funny because she seems like one of those people who is repulsed by the idea of pop music. She seems very conflicted, because it is very obvious she put both feet forward and threw her whole self into making this body of work. This is an album, but she called it a mixtape because she is afraid.
I really mean it, this is perfection in audio form. The way she interweaves herself through all these different genres, Pop, hip-hop, r&b, drill, dancehall, whatever else. She's got something for everyone, and I love experimentation in music. 0 skips, and a personal Top 5 album of all time for me at this point.

If you don’t like Honestly Nevermind, just come out and say you get no b****es!!! That album is Drake’s best work since Take Care.

so many artists have done that lane better. it was half-baked. Lady Gaga- Chromatica is the kind of house album i like
You real af for caprisongs but her loss is garbage so im conflicted

what does this even mean, y'all gotta get over how these artists are choosing to define their projects lol
anyway, nice writeups kodak
real asf for lolo, homixide and twigs at #1 spot
great taste i like this
red&white and ds4 were both fire but idk if they would make my top 10 tbh ds4 maybe a bit too high for me
might check this flo milli album i haven’t yet
I loved most of these but I'd replace Dawn with Twelve Carat Toothache and move it down a few spots. Solid list bro I didn't expect you to have taste with a name like Kodak White no offense
And I swear Flo Milli is slept on. Her and Ice Spice are making the best female rap. She should be just as popular as Ice
Respect for doing this op but don’t think I’m the target audience for most of these
Gonna peep Flo Milli tho
Shout to Flo Milli, I still need to check out this album since I only listened to the mixtape
Also need to check out Homixide Gang's album
Crazy how you're still not a fan of anything FKA twigs even though I told you to listen to Magdalene...
