I know this is going to sound heady but what is the point of fully understanding something or feeling you fully understand something. Part of the point is not understanding to the fullest and coping with that. Its a world. Yes plot holes that affect plot or character agency need to be addressed but can never answer every question and that is part of the point.

I have no problem with games with deep layers in their stories and that I don't get the first playthrough. I'm still trying to find out all the small nuances and s*** I missed in my other playthroughs in Heavy Rain to this day. It worked well with that type of game I shouldn’t have to rack my brain to enjoy a game like Death Stranding and question things when the gameplay doesn't call for it, it’s not always necessary.

Nah there are plenty of criticism of the game however a thread titled Kojima is the most overrated dev of all time is not a criticism of the game but a criticism of him.

It’s not even a criticism it’s an opinion. Which is formed because everyone is eating up Death Stranding while OP thinks it is a boring walking simulator. It had nothing to do with being American yet you and everyone else itt brings it up

Where was death stranding not marketed as basically a walking simulator? From first gameplay that is exactly what it was. Its not like Kojima tried to con anyone. He didn't bill it as an action game or show mind bending gameplay. So having the con be "its like the trailer and gameplay he showed" seems odd to me....
