Sweden and Denmark has caught allot of heat for citizens burning the Quran.
Now Denmark has made it illegal to burn the Quran and is catching allot of heat for making the law.
And all of this makes me wonder …
With all the Quanon and Right-wing people in USA, why is no one burning the Quran in the USA?
Seems weird.
I don’t know if what I am wondering about is coming thru clear, but with all the freedom loving people in USA, it seems weird that no one is burning holy books as an expression of that
Edit: searched around a bit online and found out that it’s illegal to burn holly books in America. That really surprised me
depends on what the right-wings of each country are mad at currently.
no one be hatin on muslims as much as say the lgbt community so burning qurans in usa would really be irrelevant to the current right-wing outrage discourse
because Christianity is public enemy number one, Islam is just a close second
you can earn cool points for s***ting on Christianity, Islam is more touchy because no one wants to be called Islamophobic
Unfortunately the Muslims and right wingers are currently on the same team against the LGBTQIA+
Once they done with the gays they will start picking on muslims again.
Attitudes towards Muslim migrants are very different in America because the condition of Muslim migrants is very different in America
The more insulated yet diverse cultures in America means Muslim ways of life are generally separate from Americans
In Europe there is much more social cohesion and homogeneous culture that is disrupted by an already historically antagonized religious out-group. Hence the reaction
There’s also simply more Muslims in Europe due to land routes being available for migrants.

Chronically online take. Megachurches and fundamentalists have a tangibly negative effect in America compared to Muslims
If Muslims were forming megamosques and massive fundamentalist movements in the country that corrupted democratic process they’d be no different in the critique they receive
Sorta wild question to wonder imo. Let’s just be glad it’s not happening
Also, I could be wrong but book burning is more of a European phenomenon in general to my knowledge

True

Does this make his take wrong tho?
Even though I don't give a s*** about religion, burning religious texts is some of the stupidest s*** you can do. But I'm just opposed to the act of book burning in general. Regardless of how you feel about the religions, the Bible, Torah, and Quran do house history, philosophy, and knowledge within them. The burning of those books I see it as an attack on information, history, and in some ways education.

im trying to sit here and think how does that post even relate to the point i was making lol
because Christianity is public enemy number one, Islam is just a close second
Just learned that the predominantly Christian country hates Christians
Does this make his take wrong tho?
Thinking cool points is actually some kind of motivator is a chronically online take because nobody outside of keyboard warriors actually perceives that s***, let alone pursues it

…what?
it’s pretty popular to attack Christians/Christianity just in general, it’s far from corralled to being solely an online phenomenon, which is what im commenting about
i don’t even think the average person is necessarily too aware of the influence of megachurches and fundamentalists like that if im keeping it a buck, they just know in particular, that the GOP is attempting to whip everyone into line according to their beliefs
individualism is prized, religion is largely seen as the adversary to that individualism
