80s had Vanilla Ice and Dee Dee King
90s had MC Hammer and Kid Rock
00s had Chingy and Limp Bizkit
10s had Lil Pump and Lil Xan
20s has idk whoever you wanna say is trash I'm too old to pay attention to bad music that's coming out I got a job and s***

It's nothing new, every era goes through it

Name one rap album after 2020 that’s not from a legacy artist that is as good as the loved albums from the 2000s and the 2010s.

Y’all say this then laugh at the old heads who say “name one rap album after 2010 that’s not from a legacy artist that is as good as the loved albums from the 1990’s and 2000’s”

    It’s a cycle

come get IN touch every week in the weekly releases thread make sure y'all mention anything y'all are listening to that isn't listed so it can be added. let's get back to the MUSIC

in general, I think ktt users are music die-hards. obviously some of us more so than others but on the whole, we speak as a group of people who are very attentive to music and very critical of music.

whereas the average person is more of a casual listener.

so if we are out of touch, it's because we are more in touch than a normal person

Been putting this site onto the next wave since 2010.

There’s still a lot of posters here who have that hunger for new music but I’ve noticed it’s declined significantly

    My thing is this:

You can have your preferences. I'm going to be 28 in less than a month. I'm not as skinny as I used to be, I got a boring desk job, my hairline moved back a lil bit, and I miss being a kid sometimes. I'm older and I do look back on the music from my youth particularly fondly, and can objectively say some of the good aspects about that are missing from today's landscape

But I don't go into every new release assigning inferiority to it and b****ing about it not being the kind of stuff I rocked with when I was a teenager. Having a favorite era/preferences/reasonable criticisms is one thing, but just blindly s***ting on an entire decade of music when people are happily discussing new music is just annoying and bitter. Nobody gives a f*** and if you can't hang just shut the f*** up lol (not you obv, but anyone reading). We're trying to live in the moment and enjoy the now for what it is. The past happened, it's over.

Even if you feel that way pretending like music in the 2020s is categorically bad is just a washed opinion

If we're solely speaking on the mainstream medium.

    It undoubtedly has.

Several artists of this generation are incapable of making engaging/compelling music with any form of substance.

You say it's "evolving" when in fact it's doing the opposite.

Yeah man, an era that had:

    "Ye
    Hov
    Wayne
    Lupe
    Em
    OutKast
    50
    G-Unit
    DMX
    Jadakiss
    Fab
    Game
    Nelly"

is the worst era of Rap

    There's so much more too...

    DOOM
    Cam'ron
    Gucci
    Three 6 Mafia
    Nas
    Juelz Santana
    Common
    Ludacris
    Missy Elliott
    Jeezy
    Mos Def
    TI
    Ghostface Killah
    Bun B
    Pimp
    Rick Ross
    Clipse

Like so many great artists and great albums in the 2000s. People are tryna overblow the bad in that decade, as if there isn't complete dogshit in every decade, and make it seem like the 2000s was mainly bad. That just is not the reality.

This is not a 2000s hate thread we cool with the 2000s s/o Project Pat, M.I.A., Kanye, El-P, Jay Z, Dipset, etc

We just trying to appreciate the 2020s as well, even if context may be important (i.e. not calling every good album the next MBDTF or something)

There's enough room at the table for all of it

I'm jaded about modern rap, but at the same time I can't say I'm longing for any "era" or nostalgic period in my life. Just music that sounds good to me. A lot of it might be uninteresting now but little by little I eventually find something to like. Things aren't ideal, but in the meantime there's so much to catch up on.

Chingy was not a "mid level" rapper of the 2000s lmfao

Young Buck was a mid level 2000s rapper

    Chingy was below average
