THIS IS WHAT I BEEN SAYING
or at least trying to say
Okay perhaps I should’ve clarified my old post better or made it its own thread. It wasn’t even a direct response to OP just kind of a blanket statement about how “in touch” or “out of touch” has been such a prominent buzzword/hot topic in this forum lately
How you complain about being depressed all day but then instantly s*** on every single new thing that ever happens
male it make sense
Maybe some of y’all just peaked in high school because you couldn’t accept that change is something that will always happen and that there is no “coming of age” that makes everything perfect

When I say in touch I mean "I'm actively going out there and looking for good stuff"
Keeping up with trends is for kids nobody telling you to roll up to the f***in Ken Carson show
But "in touch" means "I'm going to make a point of finding good music out there, popular or not"
There are hip hop heads in their 50s who are more tapped in to hip hop than a lot of people on here lol.
Maybe the genre peaked, okay, that happens. But it keeps chugging along regardless. That should be the focus on the listener, not "oh yeah fellow kids I love the new Yeat album he better than Carti"

it’s just a pedestal to sit on because oftentimes the music isn’t really that much up to snuff
people are conditioned to believe that new = “better” no matter what it is

Do…you know what depression is?

Negative attitudes gonna produce negative results

New doesn't mean better
But there is good new music coming out, and a lot of it is lyrically well done
Everything has progressively gotten worse since the dawn of the nuclear age.

Isn't that what lil uzi raps about, similar to lean?
Everything has progressively gotten worse since the dawn of the nuclear age.
I mean yeah
Everything has progressively gotten worse since the dawn of the nuclear age.
What about segregation and conveniences of modern technology?
Name one rap album after 2020 that’s not from a legacy artist that is as good as the loved albums from the 2000s and the 2010s.
billy woods?

i don’t think anyone’s disputing that there’s no good music coming out, most of the critiques ive seen on here are aimed at the newer crop of artists and/or the mainstream
obviously not every single album that has came out this decade has been s***, i gave you my favorites of the 2020s list in one of your threads

Yep, since the dawn on the industrial revolution

See this is a rational approach and I’m sorry you caught a stray by my post but I’m too conditioned to people using it to defend trend hopping, and that’s where the dialogue usually goes even in threads made with good intention
