    i just know that the 'weeknd wrote take care' narrative is played out and also just not true, also not in a way, so why keep bringing it up, especially as a fan

    Sometimes people assume I’m a Drake or Ye hater but most of the times I’m just not d***riding. Yes, Drake was singing before but when we say Abel wrote Take Care in other words we’re trying to say he had a HUGE impact on it. Some songs you can hear it’s a “The Weeknd type song”. To give a better example, if you’re a producer you don’t have to be in the studio with Ye to make a “Kanye Type Beat”. You will hear some songs, you’ll get inspired and then I’ll make something that sounds like Ye. After doing this logically speaking you can say “ I was using samples before I linked with Kanye” or “ I worked on a few beats with Kanye but the rest is all me”. To some extent is true but you can’t downplay the influence.

    Thank you for bringing this. Exactly, Significant records. When we talk about Take Care we talk about a specific style/ genre. No one is saying Abel wrote Lords Know, if we mention Take Care most likely we’ll bring up that specific 2011 RnB spacey Drake sound. In other words Abel brought that sound.

    But 40 produced the beats ??

    this is a fine argument, i'm not gonna debate that the weeknd definitely inspired some of take care
    but you know very well what you implied
    also when people think about take care, they think about songs like OMDB, headlines, lord knows, look what you've done, HYFR just as much as the spacey r&b joints (which shouldn't completely be attributed to only the weeknd either), or at least they should
