I think the blog idea would be great. Like a Pigeons & Planes style. Covering the small guys and the big guys, whether it’s ktt artist or what.

Ironic this came up cause I wanted to do a write up and make a thread in music about some artists.

In other words; since Scott is couth and I’m not; stop being a forum leech f***head and actually be a part of the community. Why tf should people using a music news/shittalking site on their downtime give a rat’s ass about some unknown mfs using the site just to bother everyone with their music? No baby it don’t work that way

Become a part of the community, make dope music, and then you’ll get your dues from the site since they already f*** with you

Hope this wasn’t too harsh. Good luck y’all, you got it

    - BRAVE

Ppl really don’t wanna build a community here they just want their s*** heard

Usually on other sites you leave feedback on artist songs and they’ll return the love

Here you leave feedback and these niggas think they too big to return the love when most these artist have a lot to work on.

I leave feedback for most ppl on here but niggas not really tryna support each other on here. I’ve found a few dope artist tho who don’t act too full of themselves.

looking for people to help artists and other creatives be successful on this platform, especially with upcoming features for artists

    • advise people on better ways to create, maintain, format threads etc
    • give feedback to people's music, new users especially
    • keep this a welcome environment and develop a community, not a place for people to just promote their own music etc.

i think non-artists would be preferred due to the potential conflict of interest, but post below if you're interested anyway

    I'm interested.

we have to find ways to encourage people to give more and take less.

  • May 2, 2021

Im sure there is/used to be one, but discords would be an interesting step.

Note that discords is plural; as much as id like a main channel i fear itd get diluted very quickly. What I mean by this is there is a risk of it becoming just like this sxn: it has plenty of creatives, but theres no cohesion or support.

A community like this should push eachother forward. The “sample this” thread for example still hasnt been stickied. Theres plenty of people that sample/would like to sample on this site and i feel it is a disservice not to have it

Dont take things to heart and just grind

That happened to me also a while ago honestly

One day I just started to look for beats that really reflected the sound I was going for and just started writing like 3-5 songs a day and started to get on my s*** again after that

Also used a lot of life experiences I’ve gone through and tried to incorporate it in the music. It flows easier that way.

What did you used to make brodie?

I remember back at the beginning of this year, I wanted to go on a Kanye West “5 beats a day” type thing

Not even half way in I started to hate it. And by the end of the month my brain was toast. Didnt touch fl for a month and a half.

When I came back, it still didnt feel good or right. I felt like I had to, not like I wanted to.

So i decided to do something else. I started dabbling in graphic design. I started learning more about software like GIMP and s***, and it lead me to wanting to make album covers, which led me back to the music

Maybe try a different ride and find out how different things look from the other side

    Salaam

    This is the old stuff

    soundcloud.app.goo.gl/LTWqqvzYYsDNN4FZA

I started working at Amazon full time and kept getting promoted and now I’m a manager and it’s just absorbed my whole life unfortunately. I tried to keep going but I couldn’t find motivation. When I was doing shows and stuff I was the only one doing the groundwork and networking so once I got a real job I was too burnt out to keep it up. It’s like a full time job and every now and then I find ppl who managed artists in the past and I hear their stories and envy not having met them in the past and usually by the time I meet them they are doing something else and not looking to manage talent anymore. I could have accomplished so much at one point. Before I was carl swaygan I had another alias and group and we had momentum but we got wrapped up in two different cults. We were doing shows in the mountains with them n s***. It was a wild ride but then ppl died andI deleted all my music and socials and started over and never got the momentum back while dealing with the trauma and loss. Hence, getting a job and kind of focusing on making sure I’m not going to be homeless one day. But I miss it.. a lot. At one point I was talking to malik yusef and G.O.OD. and I deleted my old KTT account before I caught on that was most likely just him being a scammer and came back giving up on the idea. But I’m also transitioning rn so Idk how being a rapper/singer would play out rn, my entire image is going to change so idk.

I just finally info dumped my backstory on a tiny thread maybe no one will see. Idk. I appreciate all the supportive comments here and I hope some artists here who have the drive I used to have find someone to help them accomplish something. I did better with pushing content when I had deadlines and a group of people willing and ready to go get things done once I laid plans in motion. It’s a beautiful thing.

Damn Swaygan you lead an interesting life.

I cant fault you for taking the practical approach, putting food on the table and a roof over your head. By the looks of it you dont either, which is good.

I listened to 3 of the tracks on your sc. Your melodies bump I like them a lot, and you are a passionate rapper. Being a transitioning artist is tough (im speaking from a cisgender perspective so bare with me) and while we arent there yet, the musical landscape is brimming with people that support and accept you.

It would seem to me, from someone youve never met and doesnt know you like that, that everything is still there. Maybe with money being less of an issue, you can slowly return without the pressure to find your next gig or needing to work with less productive people. Regardless, the tools are there, maybe just some sharpening will do.

Its easy to feel that you chose wrong, or that things didnt work out. That life gave you an unfavorable hand. But as a muslim ive been taught to believe that there is a plan for you beyond your percetion. perhaps your life needed to head in this direction, that this was the best result. You have grown and changed too, so trying to do the things you did 2,3,4 years ago wont work. You need to grow your workflow too.

But you are still youthful, and your love for music is strong. When the time is right, youll find your place in the music.

    Much love

Ps im making some stuff now, trying to ease back in and drop an LP sometime soon (middle of June?). Id love to hear how you keep schedule man cuz its my worst trait. I procrastinate way too much :/

Appreciate the kind words. And as for keeping a schedule, honestly, nothing like having an upcoming performance to get yourself cranking out music imo, especially if you have someone with you who is locking into that same date. You are going to pester each other to make time to prepare for it and make content, and it makes you break away from the perfectionism that can leave you stagnant. You have customers now, expectation to deliver an experience to people and you need to have that ready in 2-10 weeks or whatever. And then if you smash that s*** you have content and footage now to lock down more dates, more promises to deliver. It’s a cycle. It could even be for a livestream showcase or even just an open mic. If I get back into it that’s the route I’m going to take again because I know that worked out best for me and it was before the burnout that occurred as it scaled up to quickly and crashed down on me.

    what inspired you back then?

what's changed in your life since?

    See above

  • Swaygan

    See above

as someone who has been through a lot

and not released a lot of music while i was going through a lot...

i wouldn't beat yourself up about it

you are experiencing a lot of change in your life as you are transitioning and it's normal to feel unsafe creating as you are changing

sounds like you are in the cocoon and are realizing that you want to break free

    if you want to create

    truly

you will do what you must to make it a priority

we all gotta pay our bills, but you gotta be willing to put it all on the line for this

    commitment

so, i would maybe find a role that is less stressful but pays your bills

that way you can regain your footing and create freely

i hope this thread inspires you to keep going

    peace to you
