Post your ratings / review of CLB ITT in any form you want (track by track review, whole album rating,...)

My ratings (as I'm a producer myself, I am always more focused on production and more of the sound and vibe of the vocals/overall song than the lyrics):

    1. Champagne Poetry
Intro reminded me straight of Tuscan Leather and NWTS as it has that same feel of luxury, success and class. The beat switch comes in nicely and the outro is great as well. Initially thought that 40 was responsible for it as the chords and Kick feel a lot like him, but it actually is done by Shlohmo.
    9/10

    2. Papi's Home
Again a great sample that feels very reminiscent of NWTS. Drums are hitting in the right amount, Drake is flowing effortlessly. At 2:04 the track really begins to shine with Drizzy's singing.
    8,5/10

    3. Girls Want Girls (feat. Lil Baby)
Beautiful pads and synths, cool flow from Drake and some nice singing in the second hook / bridge. Lil Baby is decent as well (not his biggest fan), another Drake verse instead would've worked for me as well. Outro is beautiful.
    8,7/10

    4. In The Bible (feat. Lil Durk & Giveon)
Typical trapsoul / 40 type beat sample melody, hard hitting drums, cool synth bass. Durk and Giveon (love the delayed vocals) come in nicely. Another beautiful outro, with the strange vocal sample sounds and the short synth.
    8,7/10

    5. All Love (feat. Jay-Z)
Loved the OG leak version, especially the Need Me part, which I prefer to the Jay-Z verse. Instrumental is amazing of course with the vocal sounds and some great bass and drums. Hov's part is still quiet good though, but it would probably be a 8,7 as the OG version.
    8,3/10

    6. Fair Trade (feat. Travis Scott)
I liked the snippet, when he posted it on IG, but did not hype it up as much as some of y'all in this section. Still a cool beat. But I think the vocal sample is clashing a bit with Drake's vocals at his part around 1:09. Travis's parts starts great, the beats witch is decent as well, but feels a bit like a mix of the second part of Stargazing and Sicko Mode. Again the outro is pretty dope with the Charlotte Day Wilson sample.
    8,5/10

    7. Way 2 Sexy (feat. Future & Young Thug)
I was not too suprised about the The Right Said Fred sample, which comes in quiet cool, as we speculated about it here before the release. Together with the video this is a fun song for the club. I could live with it being on Future's or Young Thug's album, though, or on WATTBA2. 8,5/10

    8. TSU
Never heard the leaked version with the longer intro, but it was clear for me directly that this is Not Around. The beat is such a vibe and I still can wrap my head around the fact that this is a NSYNC sample. The beat switch hit me by suprise but the second part is dope as well and in the style of beats I love to do myself and always want to have on a Drake album.
    9,5/10

    9. N 2 Deep
The guitar suprised me and when I read the producer credits I thought Alex Lustig provided the synths but it's a sample. The real heat starts at 1:48 with the layered vocals. The second part is hard, especially the 808s. Not the biggest fan of the effect on Drake vocals. Future does his part, but the main hero are the 808s and the drums.
    8,5/10

    10. Pipe Down
Another sample that feels luxurious and classy, drums are clean with a nice bassline. Drake mixes the rapping and singing very nicely. Overall a pretty flawless track.
    9/10

    11. Yebba's Heartbreak (feat. Yebba)
Beautiful vocals on a wonderful piano melody. Reminds me a bit of these bars with a pianist and a singer, very classy. Especially love the part after 1:38 with the added reverb, that is were the feels come in.
    10/10

    12. No Friends In The Industry
I don't know about this one. Beat is hard, raps are aggressive and Drake is trying out something new with is voice in the first verse. The sample is fitting as well. There are some hard bars in this, but overall I don't think it fits the album that much and if I don't have enough time to listen to the complete album, this is one of the first skips.
    7,7/10

    13. Knife Talk (feat. 21 Savage & Project Pat)
Same as No Friends In The Industry this does not really fit on the album for me. It's definitely not a bad track with its ominous piano melody and the dark violins here and there, but I rather had this on Savage Mode 2. Another skip for me, when I don't have 86 mins time to listen to the album. Another nice outro, though,
    7,5/10

    14. 7am On Bridle Path
Great sample and the drums give enough space for Drake's raps to shine. But again the more aggressive content does not fit the album that much imo. Maybe put it on as a bonus at the end like 6pm in New York. Still a great song with some great bars.
    8,7/10

    15. Race My Mind
When I first heard the leak this inspired me heavily for a beat. Love the harp. Reminds me a little bit of Come Thru with the short but hard hitting 808s and the sparse melody. Vocals are great and offer a great mix of rapping and singing again. Beat switch again with a little toneshift making it a bit darker. "Intoxicated" is a better title, though.
    8,5/10

    16. Fountains (feat. Tems)
Chill afrobeat vibes, beat makes you wanna dance. Tems does a good job, but overall the album start to drag a little bit at this time. Maybe would've been used better on a Tems project as it is definitely a good track.
    8/10

    17. Get Along Better (feat. Ty Dolla $ign)
Interesting beat, not the typical Drake style singing wise. Drake hitting some high notes in this. Ty could've been utilized a bit more, imo. His adlibs on Jaded were amazing and some similar stuff would've worked here, too imo. But still we are over an hour mark now and sometimes it's starts to feel like a chore around this track.
    8,3/10

    18. You Only Live Twice (feat. Rick Ross & Lil Wayne)
Another luxurios sample, especially in the second half of the verse, when the synths come in and the drums are filtered. High quality rapping from the 3 goats as expected (Wayne with some strange lines, though). Drake sounds younger at the end of his verse. Could've worked on a Rick Ross album as well.
    8,5/10

    19. IMY2 (feat. Kid Cudi)
One of my favs of the album. THe main melody sounds very dreamy and hopeful. The intro of Juice is a bit emotional/melancholic as the whole song. Love the synth bass and the melodies both Cudi and Drake use. Imagine driving with a convertible trough the city at night and this song is playing with the best friends or a beautiful girl and she's holding your hand.
    10/10

    20. F***ing Fans
Heavy PND vibes right from the beginning. The strange bells reminds me just a little bit of PX3's Brown Skin). Drake's cadence is a bit strange, but not bad. Some chill PND background vocals. The best part starts at 1:53 after the beat switch. This Drake is always working for me and probably my fav. Simpe drums and just some key/pad chords and Drake getting his s*** of.
    9,5/10

    21. The Remorse
Drake and 40 alone can't do wrong. Great piano melody, dope vocal sample and Drake straight rapping. Very reminiscent of NWTS again. I hope we get more of this combo again in the future. Another beautiful outro.
    10/10

Overall another great album by The Boy. Cut the tracks that can be released on other projects (Knife Talk, Fountains, YOLT) or don't fit the vibe (No Friends In The Industry, 7am) and you have a 16 track album with 68 mins runtime that has a good chance of being the best drake album. So it again feels too long and bloated. But as the lowpoints on this still mostly are (very) good and there is still some cohesion this is a top tier Drake project.

Strong 7.5 or 8/10 overall for me. Could it have been more concise? Probably. But is every song fantastic on its own? Yes. As a collection of music (which is what suits the streaming era) it’s a very strong body of work and, as usual, the diversity means that different people are going to love different tracks.

I think as long as Drake makes it his mission to feed about four separate fan bases on each album (in terms of style, genre etc), this is about as good as he could do that. Very happy with CLB.

    Champagne Poetry- 8/10

Immaculate beat and great bars but I wish he would’ve done a little more after the beat switch

    Papi’s Home- 9/10

I love this song, it puts a smile on my face every time. The rapping at the beginning is great, and the daddy’s home part is so funny and so quintessentially drake

    Girls want girls - 6/10

I don’t like this song that much. The hook is funny but his verses aren’t that great and lil baby doesn’t do to well imo (big lil baby fan btw)

    In the Bible - 9/10

Similar vibe to gwg but superior in every way. Love the mumbly leaned out delivery on the hook, and both features elevate this song into the stratosphere.

    Love all- 9.5/10

This leak was always something special man. As much as i love the need me outro, i’m not too mad about it cuz there are a couple of other places in the album where he sort of reuses that melody so i don’t feel like i’m missing out too much, and the jay verse is one of his best verses in a long time imo and fits the song surprisingly well.

    Fair trade- 10/10

I was just like everyone else a few months ago playing that instagram story snippet on repeat all day and man the full length version didn’t disappoint. Travis scott coming through at the end for sicko mode pt2 was crazy.

    Way too sexy - 7.5/10

It’s a funny song and really enjoyable but I would’ve rather that song been on a future or thug album, drakes barely on it

    TSU - 8

always loved not around, the production is out of this world, and the best switch at the end is the cherry on top of this already great track

    In 2 Deep - 7.5/10

I love the first part but i’m not that into the second part honestly. the whole “baby that p**** was so worth the wait” part was very cringe

    Pipe down - 10/10

Perfect song. Beautiful production, great lyrics, melody, and song craft in general from drake. his best singing song since passionfruit

    Yebba’s heartbreak - 10/10

    beautiful.

No friends in the industry - 9/10

Hard beat, hard bars. the voice switch was nasty.

    Knife talk - 9/10

One of the hardest songs in the past couple years, 21 went crazy.

    7AM - 10/10

beat is great, drake goes hard, delivery is impeccable, bars are complex but also very meaningful. he’s saying a lot here. definitely lives up to the hype being one of the time place tracks.

    Race my mind - 10/10

this was always my favorite leak, and it sounds otherworldly in CDQ. This beat is so beautiful and drake has some of his best singing ever on here. the ending after the rap verse goes crazy

    fountains - 8.5/10

nothing too amazing here but i love afrobeats and tems goes in on this one.

    Get along better - 10/10

f***, man. the singing cuts on this album are his best ever, between this, race my mind, and pipe down. i honestly think he probably got vocal coaching for this project cuz his voice sounds the best it ever has. this song has been stuck in my head since i first heard the snippet like a year ago.

    You only live twice- 10/10

straight bars from 3 of the goats. nothing more to say.

    IMY2- 10/10

drake sounds surprisingly great over this cudi song. it was probably originally on motm3 and was given to drake, either way it’s a whole vibe.

    f***ing fans- 5/10

this one is 5/10 because the second half is 10/10 but the first half is 0/10. It sounds like he was trying to do the PND distortion but it sounds like s*** on his voice. second half is phenomenal.

    the remorse - 9/10

nothing crazy, same rap flow he’s been using a lot recently but it’s a great track regardless.

    1. Champagne poetry 7.5 - top 4 outro for me
    2. Papis home 7.5 - amazing production, drake could kinda play with his flow more
    3. Girls want girls 8.0 - lil baby verse didnt really work for me it should be drake song only, besides this heavy Plastic Bag vibes
    4. In the Bible 8.5 - i didnt like autotune on drakes part, Lil Durk delivered, Giveon amazing
    5. Love all 7.5 - leak was better for me
    6. Fair trade 9 - certified banger
    7. Way 2 sexy 8.0 - future drake classic, expected
    8. TSU 8.5 - simple and wavy track, switch is good too
    9. N 2 Deep 9.0 - Rly interesting track, unusual production, beat switch worked for me, future good addition
    10. Pipe down 7.5 - again hard autotune kinda ruined it for me.. it would be 8.5 easily
    11. Yebba’s heartbreak - 5.0 nice for first hearing, now its skip for me
    12. No friends in the industry 9.5 - iyrtitl drizzy, heavy bars, sick beat
    13. Knife talk - 5.0 not impressed at all
    14. 7am on bridle path 8.0 - bars are rly good, but I kinda miss kick in that beat, 5AM in toronto still the best AM/PM track
    15. Race my mind 9.5 - best track for me, NWTS drake, without autotune would be 10 easily
    16. Fountains - 5.0 - i dont like those afro songs from drizzy at all. Hotline Bling and One Dance worked for me
    17. Get along better 8.0 - RnB drizzy, good s***
    18. You only live twice 8.0 - kinda reminds me Lord Knows, heavy bars from everybody
    19. IMY2 7.0 - i dont fw Cudi at all
    20. F***ing fans 7.5 - the first part of the song should be PND on the mic for sure, it doesnt fit well for drake. You can clearly hear thats the PND writings and melodies, second part is good for Drake
    21. The remorse 8.0 - good outro, but Do Not Distrub is another level outro

    Solid 7.5 - 8 for the album

I agree with this 100%. I think more people need to accept the fact the Drake doesn't only cater to one audience but multiple, which explains why loads of people like some tracks but not all.

I would love to see one more album from drake before he retire, where that need for feeding everyone with different genres wont be the case.

    1. Champagne Poetry - 8 - I’ll never tire of this type of Drake but it wasn’t necessarily the knockout opener I’d anticipated. Not Tuscan Leather level but a great intro nonetheless. Great sample.

    2. Papi’s Home - 7.5 - enjoyable track, have grown to like it more with each listen. If I had to nitpick, some of the bars are a bit basic and the verse is relatively short. Still very good.

    3. Girls Want Girls - 8.5 - I’ll happily admit I was wrong on this one. Didn’t like it initially, felt low-effort and cookie-cutter. But the melody, especially on the hook, is super infectious. A definite hit and very fun.

    4. In The Bible - 7.5 - similar initial thoughts to Girls Want Girls but again the melodies worm their way into your head and don’t leave. Interesting delivery from Drake and good use of Durk.

    5. Love All - 8 - I feel like this might have been one of my favourite tracks off the rip if I hadn’t played the s*** out of the leak for the past year. Some of my favourite Drake bars and Hov came with the energy.

    6. Fair Trade - 9 - Slapper. Again, wish I hadn’t bumped the s*** out of the snippet but it still exceeded my expectations. Drake’s second verse is brilliant. Could’ve done without Travis in all honesty.

    7. Way 2 Sexy - 7.5 - can’t wait to hear this in the club. Similar to Girls Want Girls and In The Bible - didn’t quite get it at first but now the bars are stuck in my head. Thug was unnecessary imo and I wish Drake’s verse was longer - it kinda feels like a feature. Video makes the song even better.

    8. TSU - 8.5 - Been playing Not Around for like a year and a half so unfortunately I wasn’t able to relive hearing it for the first time. Amazing song. Intro is needless - same as Passionfruit, it stunts the song’s hit potential imo. Nice beat switch.

    9. N 2 Deep - 8 - love Drake’s sing-rap flow on this and the second half is a cool switch up. Perfect use of Future - not overbearing but he contributes nicely.

    10. Pipe Down - 9 - definite highlight. Great singing, Drake sounds passionate.

    11. Yebba’s Heartbreak - 7 - cool song but I wish Drake was on the record. Probably not one I’ll be going back to much unless I’m playing the album all the way through.

    12. No Friends In The Industry - 9.5 - this is exactly what I’ve wanted from Drizzy! Top-tier bars, experimental flows, changes in vocal inflection. Absolute banger with surgical rapping.

    13. Knife Talk - 8 - heater. Drake and 21 have great chemistry and Project Pat did his thing. Unpopular opinion: Drake’s flow on this is one of his best ever. “Checked the weather and it’s getting real oppy outside” 😈

    14. 7am on bridle path - 9.5 - maybe this is recency bias talking, but this might be the best entry to the timestamp series. His best delivery for sure and the bars are multilayered. An album full of NFITI and 7ams would be the rap classic some fans want imo.

    15. Race My Mind - 9 - holy s*** this is good. Maybe one of his best rnb joints ever.

    16. Fountains - 7.5 - while it’s not a standout, this is a super fun track that I’ll definitely play during summer. Good chemistry between drake and tems, nice balance..

    17. Get Along Better - 8.5 - copy and paste the comment for Race My Mind

    18. You Only Live Twice - 8.5 - goats being goats. They’ve had better records together (drake and Wayne and drake and Ross separately) but they’re yet to disappoint.

    19. IMY2 - 9 - am I crazy or is this one of the best songs on the album? Drake is definitely in cudi’s world with this one but he absolutely thrives. I love the tone in his singing and he bodies the energetic sing/rap portion. Cudi brought the vibes.

    20. F***ing Fans - 8 - first half isn’t terrible but the effect on drake’s voice is kinda offputting. Elite rap verse, vulnerable Drizzy is always fantastic.

    21. The Remorse - 8 - like champagne poetry, I think he’s done better outros (Do not disturb remains undefeated), but I’ll forever enjoy hearing introspective drake. Serves its purpose and as usual he ties up the album nicely with his final few bars.

Overall - 8 (but still growing on me)

I would love to see one more album from drake before he retire, where that need for feeding everyone with different genres wont be the case.

"I make music for driving around Toronto at night"
    album only

I think a lot of people want this but I've accepted it won't happen. Well not as an album anyway but hopefully he does a mixtape like this (similar to IYRTITL, where he mostly raps).

After 4 days of listening, my full thoughts

Champagne Poetry - A great intro, but it feels like an intro we’ve heard from him quite a bit. The statement piece to set the tone of the album. An update on his life. Love how the sample was interpolated and the production overall. 8/10

Papi’s Home - Honestly feel like this should’ve been the intro. Like it would have been the ultimate “I’m back” moment. But it isn’t as good as the intro we got as a song itself. I like Nicki’s inclusion on this track. 7/10

Girls Want Girls (feat. Lil Baby) - Underwhelming song overall. It’s catchy and I can catch myself singing parts of it. But man that lesbian line is AWFUL. Had he replaced it with the line that came in during the second hook I would’ve like this song more. Baby’s verse was alright, nothing special like Hurricane. 6.5/10

In The Bible (feat. Lil Durk & GIVEON) - Kind of boring, not because of Drake. Lil Durk just feels like he’s saying things to me idk. Giveon gave a great performance but it feels like it was tacked on to the song. Song might grow on me over time. 6/10

Love All (feat. JAY-Z) - I’ve always really liked the leak, but never loved it. Similar to the released song. The outro makes the leak really good, but the Hov verse fits the subject matter of Drake’s first verse and I like consistency. So we are losing something better for consistency. Hov did good. 7/10

Fair Trade (feat. Travis Scott) - Man this is a slapper. From the sample (shoutout CDW, Alpha out now), to the overall production, and some of the lines on Drake’s verse, this is where the album takes a turn for the better. When that Travis feature kicks in man… this s*** is amazing. 9/10

Way 2 Sexy (feat. Future & Young Thug) - A really fun song with a sample from left field. It’s a standard banger that’s really carried by the production. Catchy as hell, fun to listen to. The video helped this track too. 7/10

TSU - Man this was the most spun leak from last year and it deserves it. I would’ve rather the intro be separate as like “TSU (Skit)” then we get the rest fo the song but that’s a minor complaint. Catchy as hell, tells a story in the first half, stuff that I really like. The outro is really good, but it also feels like it was added to make the overall song different from the leak. 8/10

N 2 Deep (feat. Future) - First half of the song is where I feel like he experimented the most on this album, but it wasn’t much. Loved the guitar riff though. Classic R&B Drake on the first half. Second half comes in strong with a solid Future verse. 7/10

Pipe Down - Great track. Loving the production throughout and obviously it has some captionable bars all over. 8.5/10

Yebba’s Heartbreak (with Yebba) - Beautiful interlude. Yebba’s voice is incredible. 10/10

No Friends In The Industry - The warning shot. Love the energy, the flow, the delivery, everything about the vocal performance on this is damn near perfect. The grimy beat behind it just helps this track standout more. 9/10

Knife Talk (feat. Project Pat & 21 Savage) - Continuing the grimy theme of this stretch of the album, this track feels like it fits more on Savage Mode than CLB. Although I really dig it, this along with the other tracks on this stretch really feel like they are losing the theme. Good song nonetheless with a killer verse from 21. 7.5/10

7am on Bridle Path - We know what this song is, time in place. Bars all over, and it’s really great. The shots at Ye are there, and they’re slick. Not the best time stamp track, but still great nonetheless. 8/10

Race My Mind - God I love most of this song. The first half is incredible. Classic R&B Drake, with some Nothing Was the Same vibes. The outro is nice, but I would have preferred the first half to be it’s own track because it’s that damn good. 8/10

Fountains (feat. Tems) - Nice afrobeats song where Tems absolutely steals the show. Drake did his thing but it felt like he was trying to emulate an afrobeats artist at some points. 8/10

Get Along Better (feat. Ty Dolla $ign) - Grand production, Drake going higher on his vocals than he usually does, nice little narrative throughout. I just wish Ty had a little more to do on this song. 7.5/10

You Only Live Twice (feat. Lil Wayne & Rick Ross) - Great posse cut with great performances all around. 8/10

IMY2 (feat. Kid Cudi) - I really wanted to love this song. A Cudi and Drake collar has been on my wishlist for the better part of a decade, but it didn’t really work in the end. Cudi did great but I don’t think Drake did well on this. It didn’t click for me. Glad to see them come together regardless. 5/10

F***ing Fans - There is definitely a PND Demo to this song and I would love to hear it. Drake was great on the track but this definitely screams a PND track that was given to Drake. I still love the song tho. 8/10

The Remorse - Classic Drake outro, feels like the same kind of outro he’s done on the last few albums but it’s still good. It’s the last update before he signs off for a year. He’s had better outros in the last few years. 7.5/10

Overall, CLB is a Drake album. I knew I was going to like it and I did. Not everything was as good as I wanted it to be but overall it’s an easy listen and really enjoyable. I would like to see him try to change it up on the next project. Maybe drop the raps and go all R&B or the opposite. Not a double album. I am also just not a fan of long albums in general. Could’ve cut this album down to 14-15 songs and it would’ve felt more concise. I would’ve loved CLB to be more of a concept album based on how it was presented, but that’s not what we got.

    7.7/10
