    Pretty much

And Bonnie and Clyde is a song from 1968

Eh I mean either way this s*** is still a fantastic album and all the songs flow together very well. Imo it's on the same level as TPAb and Drogas Wave in terms of listening experience

Yee. Jay sounds nice on it though.

  • Between this and Friday Night Lights having been Coles intended debut, Roc Nation was just f***ing up careers left and right smh

Nah my initial post didn't say "most", it said a lot which is subjective. Your reading comprehension was factually bad here bro

I realised, thats why at the end I said 'a lot' which would normally mean at least half or nearly half. No worries though. Stay Blessed

Departure still probably my favourite Jay track but Memories & Merlot close.

  • Nights at the Roundtable finished will be my top 5 jay elect. That song is so emotional. Hope he finished his thoughts on that one.

Can't agree bro, but maybe if I never heard most of those songs before I'd have a different experience. I also can't really know until it comes out in full, hearing an unfinished album bothers me too much. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to detach myself from all the bad memories that are attached to this album by then and enjoy it like it's new.

I definitely enjoyed King's Disease more than this album, current Nas is more mature than Jay was on this album and past the point of constantly having to tell you how amazing he is.

  • For an album to still have this amount of impact almost a decade later and with half of the surprise leaked, I think that speaks clearly for itself.

  • Oct 5, 2020

Really hope they documented the process of making this album and that we’ll get too see it some day

Tbh I haven't heard most of these songs beforehand besides Letter To Falon and STT, maybe that's why I thought the album was amazing. I do agree that Jay was talking mostly about being the best (Like most rappers do lol) but in a creative, more "lyrical" way.

Imo the main highlight of this album is the production, and the listening experience all around

😔 I really like Rough Love, i feel mad alone. Obv needs something in place of the open verse but i love his flow and that beat a lot. And we got mad classic jay UHUHs, how could you not love it

That's the one track where I feel like the lyrics are really sub par tbh, hook is rough too. Finished version would need to be a huge improvement for it to win me over.

The KnightsBridge lyrics I'm also not completely sure on

I still think that it could've been one of the best albums of 2012 (not only hip hop but all genres considered), and that was a really strong year.

I mean there’s some heavy and very unique lyrics and references and it’s not just for the sake of wordplay and rhyming cat and hat cleverly. You really feel like he’s preaching but also it’s very much introspective so he’s not coming off as a lecturer as most lyricists fall into that trap. I am pretty sure he produced the majority of beats on this again. It really is cinematic and feels like a movie. I think that separates him more and puts him (not to say Kanye bc Kanye has executed cinematic albums many times) but it merges elite lyrical foundation with elite album concepts. It’s not just a collection of good random songs. The loosies we got are given much greater power in the context of the entire project. To me Letter to Falon represents this perfectly. Within this album it works so much better than a random single.

Yeah he always does, but I can do without his parts too

Tbf maybe some of his flows on AWT were meh? That might be why ppl thought Hov was better. The flows.

Check my previous posts bro, he definitely wasnt "mostly" talking about how great he is. 4 out of 16 track are braggadocious. Other sings are touching on topics in a way hardly any rappers do.

An example of a rapper being braggadocious but unique is Biggie

I was exaggerating, but either way it didn't really come off as braggadocios and more like poetry towards me, which is what I love about Jay the most.
