Anybody who needs the Oblivion99 remaster can hit my DMs as well

In my copy I've swapped Latonya's @fatbellybella cover mix with the OG @fatbellybella (just Jay, with the mercury in retrograde sample, better vocal take).

They’re pretty much calling it a modern classic, can’t disagree with that

  • Oct 13, 2020

So happy they reviewed this well

Hope this doesn't ruin our chances of getting a finished album

still crazy words coming from the #1 tastemaking music pub

This is pretty unfinished and rough around the edges. I find it hard to listen to without the oblivion remaster. There are open verses, laptop mic takes, for some of us we've already heard the songs, so it's weird in context of the album.

honestly very (pleasantly) surprised by this review; I'm a stan and I'd give it a ~"light to medium 8" (subject to change!)

Tbh Pitchfork aren't the "tastemakers" they used to be a long time ago, it's not the early 2010's.

We didn't need them to know that Act 2 has the potential to be a classic lol.

They already awarded AWT with a BNM though so naturally Act 2, the better album, deserved a higher score. They are so unprofessional that we weren't even sure they'd get this right.

I don't agree with pitchfork on a lot of scores

But if they aren't the #1 tastemakers in terms of music publications, who are?

dont care about reviews really, mfs bring up metacritic and s*** when scores are so all over the place their isnt any consistency

get rich or die trying has a score in the low 70s - so does the documentary if i remember. GRODT was included on rolling stones' 500 greatest albums.

there are rap albums that arent even in the same league with 10+ higher scores.

There's no publication that matters anymore. P4k were hot in the early-mid 10's but ppl started seeing them as super lame and moved on.

Fantano has surpassed P4k in popularity for sure, but he's only the God of a certain niche in music too. He gets a lot of hate too. But I do believe that his opinion has more impact than P4k. He has practically built Brockhampton from nothing for example.
