body talk deserved higher rank
honey almost as good too imo
"Call Your Girlfriend" wouldve made my singles list for sure too
Some snubs imo on top of my head:
no love for Lemonade
The National got 2 albums in but nothing from The War On D**** or Beck.
Was Abel snubbed too?
Jon Hopkins’ Immunity snubbed
Disclosure’s Settle snubbed
Slowdive’s Self Titled
Perfume Genius
Moses
I didn’t see Melodrama either
No James Blake
The xx (although Jamie solo made it, but that was low as f***)
Arctic Monkeys
St Vincent
Maxwell
Kelela
Angel Olsen
i agree that the brand of poptimism thats like "actually phil collins was good" is dumb. but for like 50 years the vast majority of music criticism was done by, for and about white men and certain artists were canonized accordingly. an overcorrection is due and using "ree poptimism" to criticize women who make dope music is dumb.
much better than EMOTION and i’m a huge Carly fan lol
but you put EMOTION at 11 and Body Talk at 41 so explain this to me chief.

That's true, and Im sure the rise of the internet factors into that a decent bit as well too
Also, remember when Robyn dropped Body Talk five years before the "once in a generation album" Emotion?
true, which makes the hype for Carly just weirder to me.
Then again, I like a few Carly songs.
I guess reading through the reviews and looking at what happened sociopolitcally at the time would help but I have literally zero idea.
how do threads like this never appear until voting is over
Real ones knew where voting was
Not too late to send me your list of fav movies from last decade though

House of Balloons is in the 50 range
James Blake self titled is in the 50 range
I agree about St Vincent
Beyonce got 0 votes but that still seems like too many.
The rest is up for debate onwhether they should be included but this list is more of a representation of our Fam thread (exceot for TPAB at 10 get that s*** outta here) and not trying to cater to any audience.
i agree that lil b is influential and it was really fun at the time but if u still bumping wonton soup and doing the cooking dance u need help frfr

did you read OP? This was a private voting process with people of a specific thread to see what our list would look like. didnt want to havbe any outside influence. Sorry for the exclusion but this was a list for the indie FAM!

Emotion didn't even get rave reviews. It was mostly 7/10s across the board
And up until its release, she was merely a one-hit wonder whose mainstream career was assumed to be all but dead.
It's debatable if it was even the best pop album of the decade but it's undeniable that it was the most influential pop album of the decade when it came to the genre's consumption.
It's not that deep
