I think there needs to be a rule
If you happen to post a song that’s not actually from the decade you’re repping you automatically lose that round
This way we know y’all niggas didn’t just pull s*** from a playlist

In a thread that's LITERALLY COMPARING MUSIC AGAINST EACH OTHER
My lord

I worded it poorly.
What I generally meant was when I’m listening to Pearl Jam I don’t randomly think of Nirvana and how they’re not as good as them.
I hate how people didn’t understand that but I digress.

Up to the reps!
@saveme You're right. The 80's makes more sense for R&B. I played a few 70's highlights next to the 90's classics and there were jarring differences that made it impossible for me to choose which I preferred.

Yeah the 20 year difference can’t be overstated. The 80’s is gonna be a much better match up
What R&B album from the 90’s do you think you could place into the late 70’s and it would feel like it fit almost perfectly?

None because by the 90's style of production is so modernized compared to the 70's. If you're talking about sheer quality, then Brown Sugar or Urban Hang Suite.
Somebody posted an appreciation thread for Wiz Khalifa's Up and I couldn't stop playing the original sample. The 90's was jampacked with gems. Quite possibly the peak decade for R&B, as a whole.

That's the 2000's though. If it was released just a month earlier then it would've been the first album I mentioned.
Voodoo sounds like the next stage that Sly envisioned but didn't reach due to his many setbacks. I mean that with the upmost respect. I'm going to check this video out while I eat my breakfast.
