In cases like this AVG is not a good representation of reality most of the times

in last 6 games Kawhi played 28mpg. He once played 41 min (Avg goes up)

in 11 games PG played, 6 times he played under 30 min

It's easy to look at the avg number but when you a***yze it game by game you see that Kawhi and PG are limited to around 28mpg

When they are needed in the close game they play more
Doesn't change a fact that they play around 29min a game

Now when you look at LeBrons game-by-game all you see is 39, 37, 36, 43. But hey he once played 25min and 26min so there goes your average.

Look at AD:
37, 35, 38, 43... and 27, 28 once again. Here the avg goes down.

So excluding the extreme examples where the game was over by the half and playing LeBron and AD in the 4th was simply not necessary you're left with

28.5 for PG and Kawhi

36 for LeBron and AD

that's almost a difference of playing 10 minutes more

if you play ball you know that having to play 8 min more in the 4thQ after playing 28min is KILLING

And it's important to notice that it's not like we're giving up games bc we want to keep Kawhi under 30min. We're still winning with him playing 28. Same with PG.

While Lakers have to play 36min of LeBron and AD to lose to Dallas... (for comparison Kawhi and PG played 28 in a W against Dallas)
