Did y’all read her post people are annoyed with her because of how defensive she’s been avoiding any and all criticism

she should've left the issue alone and not mention any names but I don't think there is any ill will in her statements

Neither but I think she’s handling the response to it badly as well lmao

Like don’t go on the defensive immediately

Acknowledge the issue and the mistake, make it clear what you meant and what you didn’t mean and then defend to some extent

There’s nothing wrong with what she’s saying but there’s everything wrong with how she said it

For her to compare herself essentially exclusively to black women and then Ariana grande (who has had an unbelievably difficult few years) and then act like she’s more oppressed than they are is just so so stupid. She has a point completely in what she’s saying but she’s really awful in getting that across in an unproblematic and clear way

And then saying there needs to be a “new wave off feminism” for people like her

She’s attempting so hard to become off as though she’s oppressed as if she isn’t a wealthy white woman

It’s peak Karen behaviour, mix that with how defensive she’s being of all Critique no s*** people are annoyed at her

I see what you mean. like I said mentioning the artist was a mistake. She should realize her issues aren't necessarily compareable to others or better yet she's not the only one being criticized for her content

  • May 23, 2020

I just don’t understand how she has such a bad PR team

Like with that post she alienated both conservatives and liberals lol

I agree that her point would’ve came across a lot better if she hadn’t mentioned names at all

But it’s not like she’s saying she’s more oppressed than they are. She’s saying her subject matter in her songs is criticized but theirs isn’t. And not that theirs should be criticized, but hers shouldn’t either.

I’m sure she’s aware that black women have been oppressed more in life than she has, but she clearly was speaking strictly about subject matter in music

    Exactly
Like why not use the fact that those artists have also gotten flack as part of the argument about patriarchy in the music industry
But instead she uses them as a “they’re not criticized why am I” which is just untrue and hurts her argument so much

    But theirs is definitely criticized

Like Nicki got enormous amounts of flack for being so sexualized
Ariana got serious flack for “using macs death” with thank u next
    Etc

And yea I agree I’m sure she’s aware of that but she doesn’t make it clear enough

Except they have and at an obscene rate especially Nicki and Beyoncé

  • May 23, 2020

I promise you nicki and Beyoncé have had much worse attacks on the content of their music then Lana ever has or will and especially in recent times

The critiques she’s talking about haven’t even been present for years now, so for her to bring it up randomly especially in these to portray herself as some poor oppressed woman is extremely f***ing tone deaf and laughable

People were literally calling for bey to be lynched on twitter as a result of her calling out police brutality in 2016

Yeah I can agree with the last part

I honestly can’t speak on the rest, again I’ve never listened to her music

And yeah maybe Nicki got criticized for being sexualized af but that’s clearly accepted now, especially since the rise of Cardi and Meg

Idk if Ariana actually did that, I don’t listen to her either but if she did, I think it’s fair for her to be criticized. That’s justified criticism, just like how Nicki was critized early on for having bisexual lyrics and claiming to be bi but saying she could never be in a romantic relationship with a woman and then years later saying she’s not bisexual at all. S*** like that deserves criticism

Seems like people in this thread are saying the criticism Lana faces is that she fetishizes abusive relationships and borderline rape. I can’t speak on if she does. If she does I’d say that’s justified criticism, if she doesn’t I’d understand her viewpoint

I’m not disagreeing but when did Beyoncé face unjustified criticism for her lyrics?

There were headlines on Fox News for a week straight about Beyoncé in her self titled era simply for singing about having s***with Hov and being sexually liberated

yeah I'd be fine with most of Lana's message if she just didn't bring them into it

and then her trying to deflect further on makes it even worse

Eh this is Bill O’Reilly tho

He obviously doesn’t believe this, he just says it to get attention. Skip Bayless of the politics world

    But I agree with you
