there are some of her greatest songs on there IMOThe album has some highlights, but she played it safe instead of going all the way. the folky psychedelia stuff like mariners apartment complex and venice b**** should've been accompanied by more gems in that style

O7OXOYeah. I always quit the album midway. I find it really boring and slow. Best song on it is Doin time which is the only song that gives me that Lana cinematic vibe I love
What sold me on Lana wasnt just the cinematic vibe but the fact that she's one of the few pop female artists with a ''rap feel'' to her songwriting

I would agree usually for most artists but as a Lana fan who’s been listening since before Ultraviolence... that was her peak imo. Her best blend of good songwriting, beautiful unique production, and catchy well executed songs. And not full of filler/amateurish songs like Born to Die.
Lust for Life/Honeymoon regardless of what lana stans say are lifeless and extremely rote and nondescript albums outside of like Summer Bummer lol. NFR brought back her strong interesting songwriting and the production lended to it even if it did become really samey in some stretches of the album. I agree she definitely got too comfortable and it’s why her music is in the position it’s in now

i also think her getting a second home in the seal beach / long beach area has affected her music significantly. lana mentioned lbc at least 3 times on that album. we get it already lol @provider @Psychodrama at least her neighbors introduced her to sublime lol
