the National Music Publishers Association is also honoring her with their songwriter award next month
She’s so precious
lately i've been sunnin' in the LA riverbed
wearin' nothing but the summer bruises on my knees
i like how you talk, how you speak, how you look at me
but lately, i can see...YOU WANTED ME SADDER.

any specific reason why you haven't checked out the later stuff? or just haven't gotten around to it?
Happy birthday to Ultraviolence

Just haven't gotten around to it. I was super late to the party in general tho. Outside of like the most well known songs from Born to Die, I hadn't heard anything from her until about a year and a half ago.
When I got to NFR I didn't want to just be casual with it because I've heard such incredible things about it. Almost daunting. I wanted to fully lock in for my first listen but then a week or two went by, I never got that chance and then that urgency just kind of faded.
It's funny because all told she's probably in my top 3-5 listened to artists this year, but I'm missing half of her discography.

yeah, sometimes those grand expectations can taint the experience. cause i think it's just as great and special as you've heard. it's my favorites of hers. but it's also the introduction of a new approach, new producer and shift in sound so it can totally not be someone's vibe that likes the earlier stuff.
try to dip into a couple of the post-LFL records this summer and let us know what ya think, i'd be curious
Black Beauty should've been on the standard edition
they went crazy in these sessions, too much gold.
