Who is that singing with Lana on Breaking Up Slowly?
She sounds amazing
nikki lane and yes she does
Breaking Up Slowly, Dance Till We Die and For Free >>>>>
Lana started and ended this album probably better than she's ever done on any other album.
This is for sure one of her best albums. Sublime yet understated. My favorite Lana.
So I enjoyed Yosemite and dark but just a game. Even Tulsa Jesus freak. And as I said I liked the single. I just can’t review honestly.

There's no rush, give it time.

This album is a the defintion of mid
A strong 5/10
the instruments were to subdued to my taste,
Her vocals are what they are - whisper register on lock - but wth was that chorus on Yosemite?
The way she sang "riiiihiiiHIIIhiiight" bothered me
The lyrical content was decent however didn't have a body - I knew she liked to cosplay as a woman from last century but was surprised to how much she sticks to that theme
Now.... How many men is she gonna conjure up to peddle her dysfunctional love stories : George in one song Stevie in the other...
I might be out of the loop but I don't grasp the concept :
maybe there isn't any and she's just writing songs from the POV of a white woman from the middle of last century mindset for the heck of it...
The only songs that stood out to me in a positive way :
Both of these songs still contain the flaws mentioned above however the melodies and instrumentation were slightly better - they could've been better - they stand out like a blank page in a see of recycled grey paper would stand out
@EyesOnTheSmile you're a huge fan of lana so I gave it a try and ypu wanted my honest review on this project
I hope the other albums you recommended to me (Lust for life, honeymoon, born to die) are better than this one
Underwhelming first impression for me but I'm still willing to give your fave albums a try
I'll go back to this when I'll get the urge to watch a melodramatic soap-opera on a no color tv.
That hard jazzy switch up at the end of Dance Till We Die is sick, she sounds alive sounds kinda like St Vincent

i honestly thought it was another additional vocalist for a few seconds. for all of the stripped back instrumentation she really did a lot with her voice/vocal production. really cool stuff

s*** caught me off guard
loved it
Before I listen to this, I have to say my favourite Lana verse is from the unreleased version of "Tomorrow Never Came":
"I could put on the radio to our favorite song
Lennon and Yoko, I guess those days are gone,
baby you have to forget, and i have to move on"
