@Undisclosed - Streetlight Manifesto- The Hands That Thieve

opening to this album blindsided me so hard, I didn't expect that immediate and urgent of an intro. Extremely catchy and upbeat. loved the combination of the Sax and guitar. Intro made me felt like a movie opening up with the character already getting chased.
    Amazing intro

me realizing the whole album is an adrenaline rush and fast paced.
this part in the Littlest Things
"I took the medicine, but the pills won't work.
The pills they don't do anything, but rearrange all the little things.
And I know a little bit, but that bit won't do.
The bit I know is irrelevent, so I guess this song is irrelevent too"
Pro: This seems like a great album to workout too. Very upbeat and fast- paced.
also second half of With any sort of certainty>>>
Toe to Toe is fire. especially that smooth saxophone break.
Cons: Sometimes this album can feel kind of one note cause almost every song sounds like a rush to the finish line but Im assuming that's the sound they tried accomplish on this album.
Have to listen to more of their albums
Favorites: The Three of Us, The Littlest Things, Toe to Toe, Your Day Will Come, With Any Sort of Certainty
Also don't know why this album makes me think of Malcolm in the Middle
    Album rating: 8/10

Ay man I’m so glad you liked the album this is seriously one of my favorite bands of all time I’ve probably seen them close to 20 times their shows are phenomenal. But you nailed it with the s*** you said tbh, Streetlight is great when it comes to painting a picture with the music. I think horns are mad underrated in music because you can really do a lot with them musically

I definitely see what you mean about it sounding sort of the same, that’s one of my gripes with it too, it def drags on towards the end of most of the songs I feel like they could have trimmed a bunch idk. Tbh if it weren’t for the comeback theme I would have recommended their album Somewhere In The Between, it’s just overall a better album to me. It’s got a great storyline, the music is overall better and it’s a much easier listening experience. If you wanna check more out I 100% recommend that album

@MrIndigo96 Side note, I’m gonna throw that D’Angelo on in a few minutes I’ve listened to this album before but not since probably 2015, and I don’t really remember anything from the album so this should be a semi-fresh listen

@MrIndigo96 As soon as I put the first track on it all came flooding back to me album is perfect front to back if I’m being completely honest every single track just immediately sucks you into another world that you kinda just float out of once the song is over/ending

The horns on Sugah Daddy are just something about the way they’re mixed where they just seem to swell up from the texture just makes it sound so cool, plus at the end when he’s just buzzing through the mouthpiece like wtf it also helps to have a jazz giant playing trumpet for you (RIP )

My only gripe with this album is that the drum patterns feel kinda samey throughout the album, not a bad thing tbh it gives it a nice cohesion, but at certain points I found myself feeling like the groove on this track sounds just like the groove on the last track

Other than that like I said this album is outstanding on almost every level. The production is f***ing s t a c k e d I’m definitely gonna need to listen to this a few more times to catch more stuff I know for sure I missed. D’Angelo’s voice of course is just the vocal layering that’s on this record is insane; another thing that I’m gonna need to listen for again. I think I was definitely too young to appreciated this album when it came out for SURE. I knew it was great back then but wow as an adult this album blew me away.

Easy 9/10, might even say 10/10

I have no problem with it. Unless someone wants an excuse to put on some Fiona for the first time, I don't need to swap.

I'm also familiar with some of the other albums in the exchange here so it's really not an issue
