Had to fill in some few missing parts in the dialogue myself, the subs were horrendous.

    Magic Mike 6

Much better than expected, but brought down by a weak romance. It can probably be said that most of the non-dance elements were well intended as to flesh out the narrative scope, but the spectacular dance routines are by far the best thing about this.

    A Prophet 7.5

Very strong prison-crime film with pschological details and cultural tensions (well, its mostly straight up racism) between North African Muslim and French gangsters. A tad long, but there's a pair of really strong action sequences to beef up what is otherwise a more subtle than expected 'genre' film.

    Hustlers 7

Much better than expected, AND this film actually has good non-performative elements. Though I guess its actually a quite different film from Magic Mike, but comparing the two feels inevitable. I agree with the people who wanted Jennifer Lopez to get an oscar.

    Harold and Maude 8

This movie is sorta mixed bag, but the highs are pretty strong so I like it a lot overall. It contrasts suicide and existentialism with humor and a love for life and that contrast works. The chemistry between the main characters is interesting, tbh it made me uncomfortable a little bit, but it was at least very unique. Weird movie, but confidently weird.

Jeanne Dielman, 23 quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles 9

Chantal Akerman has such a talent for emphasizing texture and structure, bringing her subjects to exceed the screen and the present moment. This film reminded me, in an odd way, of Hamlet, because of the manner in which the camera heightens Jeanne Dielman's interiority without ever giving away her secrets. It's very long, but this is somehow one of the easiest films I've sat through and its just about a woman doing s*** in her flat.

i see the the shows really are in that aspect ratio it must take time to pack all that content into 640x800. a lot of tedious aligning like this streamable.com/em3z5l

watching fantomas before was a good prep for mabuse tbh.

similar themes like the omnipotence, causing havoc and robbing, also the aspect of being a master of disguising yourself

    need to cop testament now

Platoon was amazing. Every shot felt really inspired with some really cool nature visuals. And the acting is of course very very good
