i watched recently and it easily is top 3 nolan

It might be my second favourite Nolan film tbh. Inception in his best, but I can’t decide if I like The Prestige more than Memento

Both Memento and Prestige are really fantastic films. Nolan tends to favour the spectacle more nowadays, whether for the better or worse that's for you to decide.

I prefer Nolans most visual based auteurism in his spectacles to his neat writing puzzles in his earlier work (though I do love The Prestige but with Memento it felt like a stylistic flex than something that really meant much, structurally Dunkirk was far more substantial)

how is One on Top of the Other? I always wanted to see this film because it's with the same sexy actress from Danger Diabolik never seen a Lucio Fulci film

It's very understated compared to his other more popular films and doesn't really represent him as a director, it's definitely a good thriller though give it a watch, but man.. also watch Don't Torture a Duckling(pre gorefest Fulci), that one is something else

  • pretty typical Malick movie, but the landscapes and setting made it beautiful to watch. top notch cinematography but it felt like some of the character development and the motivations behind their actions were sacrificed by Malick's style. still his best work since Tree of Life.

    8/10

What are his best ones? Only seen rebels.

Was browsing his filmography on wiki and realized the son of the taxi driver in rebels stars in every single one of the directors movies. Wild.

what time is it there? and vive l'amour are two of my favourites of his. i'm a stan though, so i love every one of his first 8 films (am yet to watch the most recent 3).

and yeah, it's crazy. tsai and lee kang-sheng are one of my favourite director/actor duos ever.

8/10. Animation on this is f***ing incredible. Visual masterpiece.

8/10. Thought the ambition with the character structure was 10/10. Loved the sound design too unlike many.

Needs a rewatch... maybe thats why they reopening theatres for this cos everybody needs to buy two tickets.

lol fam he famously uses the same actors in like every film... literally the same mom, dad and son like 5 times. dont think he even changed the names sometimes. films all still very distinct and amazing.

a happy/clean ending wouldnt have suited it

those shades of irreversible fate and karma descending are pretty endlessly compelling
