Eyes Wide Shut was... Well I couldn't look away. I bet Kubrick wanted me to be sucked in and then throw that last line out there only to laugh at me

I surfed the web for a d/l. It’s worth noting that the copy I had, while extremely watchable, wasn’t the absolute best. But it is an option. Another option would involve holding off for the blu ray release which is set for early January

Hmm, Ill probably wait for that. I saw the director say hes inspired by Cassavetes, did you see that in the film?

Hm the two directors that came to mind for me were Hirokazu Koreeda and Hong Sangsoo. I suppose I could see Cassavetes influence in the attention to conversation and ‘small moments’ - but while Cassavetes camera is oftentimes erratic imo, the visual style here is very restrained

but I like some old dusty 30’s musicals

Brawl in Cell Block 99 is pretty hard so far, was told it was dismal

Fallen angels pretty good

Just saw the French dispatch and it's kinda perfect
