Yeah it sorta deflates at the end. Dragged Across Concrete has the opposite problem, the first hour+ was awful
Just watched dragged across concrete and agree, first half was boring, but that second half
Gomorrah 5 stars?
certainly one of my favorite movies, one of the few accurately syndical mafia flicks
its a wonderful life 5/5
watched the colorized version. looks like s***!
I didn’t even know there was a colorized version lol my old high school used to have us watching the OG version every year before Christmas break. A classic fr

Only been like 3 months since I've started watching movies so I haven't gotten around to the agreed upon classics, but I'm glad that so far the percentage of s*** movies is just the same as the percentage of s*** anime. Arrival and Uncut Gems were great though, at least I got to end the year on a good note.

if i were you i'd stop watching. Not being facetious. Youre clearly not having a good time. Why torture yourself.

Thanks for looking out, but it's fine lol. I know I got a ton of one star ratings but there's two explanations for that.
1. My ratings only look harsh because my one star rating is used to represent anything from "complete s***" to "decent but unremarkable."
Like I don't think Sympathy for Lady Vengeance was a waste of my time at all, I just didn't think it was good enough to bother acknowledging with more than one star. For my one star stuff, I can still appreciate some well done scenes, or good aspects of production even if holistically I didn't really care enough to rate the final product with more than one star.
2. I'm not exactly jumping blindly into film. I've got 400 completed anime series under my belt so I know just how good something can be with proper vision and execution. When I first started watching anime, I wasn't much of a film or TV show watcher so I was giving out high scores like candy because everything was new and I had nothing to reference what I was watching against. These films I'm diving into don't get the same benefit of the doubt.
And if I'm being real, sitting through a bad 2 hour movie is a lot easier than sitting through a bad 4 hours of a 12 episode anime.
i still have issues with his lisp tbfh, hearing him talk can be annoying
Grants transatlantic is no less hokey
They're the only two real icons that unlike everybody else didn't have to rely on being edgy and badass all the time to maintain their appeal and quality. Same reason Kinks are my favorite band.

Great = 2 stars?
Great = 2 stars?
Yes. I'm not wasting my mental energy to figure out precisely whether a mediocre movie is 1.5 stars or 2 stars.
It's just easier to dumpster everything I don't love into the 1 star category because if we're being real, under a more traditional rating system, nobody gives a f*** about knowing what mediocre movie you have at 1.5 stars. The only real thing of interest is seeing what someone actually likes, so instead of wasting rating slots on s***ty movies, I have more slots to differentiate my favourite movies from each other.
Though now that I'm thinking about it I might just change to a Michelin system where non-great stuff gets no stars and only great stuff gets stars.
