Why this got me crying
Shiki-Jitsu // Ritual (2000)
hideaki anno
i cant even begin to unpack everything here just watch it
its way more artistically and emotionally vast than anyone coming into would imagine
and in the crevasse of such a heavy film lies some of the most beautiful, candid moments
incredibly stimulating both visually and psychologically
is in the first half there is some very thoughtful meta commentary on escapism/fantasy but manages to pull you back into its world just as easily its pulled you out
very modern and very relevant
the guy mc is also the director of all about lily chou chou
10/10

Vivre Sa Vie - 7,5/10
Seven Beauties - 7,5/10. Gorgeous to look at, quite funny at times but also often overly slow. Can't believe he f\*\*\*ed that walking meatball I'm sick
The Bridge on the River Kwai - 8/10
Sabrian - 8/10
The Dark Knight Rises - 6,5/10

I've always put this one off. Glad I did and got to see a good amount of Bergman's other work before watching this one. Def feels like his magnum opus/swan song using themes from his past works. Immediately catapults to my favorite of his. Curious to what I'll think of the theatrical version because I could see the pacing being slightly better.
9.5/10
Wish I saw this as a kid, would've been way more impactful and the nostalgia rewatching as an adult would be fire. I still f***ed w it but I def didn't resonate with it as much as I had hoped to, def see why it's considered a classic tho
7.5/10
