I feel the exact same about this, and Gyllenhaal performance aside I know this is still a wildly unpopular opinion but I prefer Velvet Buzzsaw
After Hours by Scorsese
10/10 movie, really didn't want this s*** to end. Felt like I was in some Trilogy by The Weeknd kinda world. Vibes are strong on this one,

Persona changed my life for the better, and Bergson has many other films that compete for my fav

i've never seen anything else by him. what ones would you recommend?

It’s hard to go wrong w Bergman, but after Persona I would maybe recommend Through a Glass Darkly, Cries & Whispers (narrowly my favorite Bergman above Persona), & Autumn Sonata.
The Seventh Seal & Wild Strawberries (not a personal fav) are his other super classics, just not necessarily a similar mood. Hour of the Wolf and The Silence are two that a I think follow Persona stylistically the most, but I wouldn’t necessarily immediately recommend - I’d call those later watches, especially if you don’t care for some of the other titles I mention.
AND THEN I have to just mention Scenes From a Marriage and Fanny & Alexander, but am only mentioning them to say that while they are amazing (and get called his best by many) I would definitely watch a good chunk of the previous films before watching those longer miniseries/long movies.
So.. with all that being said. If I to limit myself to three recommendations they would be 1. The Seventh Seal 2. Through a Glass Darkly 3. Cried & Whispers
and then go from there. I’m sorry it’s hard to give a concise recommendation bc I watched most of his films earlier this year and love many of them. If you like Seventh Seal a lot then there are also plenty of earlier films by him that I’d recommend; I didn’t care much for it when I first saw it, that’s why I recommend you watch it and some of the later stuff too.

Thank you so much for the recommendation. Finally got around to watching this, was brilliant. Had everyone crying their eyes out 😭😭😭
Black Christmas
Worst movie I watched all year I expected a ridiculous horror movie but I didn't expect to cringe throughout the entire movie
It wasn't really scary every jump scare was predictable as f***, the girls acted stupidly, and the whole #metoo twitter theme was so silly
If you wanna watch bad horror for teens go ahead and watch this
2/10
this film is so goofy like the plot point you could predict but the film is just so... not good. also the lack of chemistry between leads is making me scream

Uncut Gems | 5/5
You actually liked it? What is it that made it good? I literally just watched it and thought it was horse s***...

Did you watch the s***ty 480p screener online or in a theatre?
Personally, for me, I can't remember the last time my heart was beating this fast while watching a movie. The intensity, 24/7 anxiety feeling was surreal, loved the pacing (not a dull moment), everybody killed their roles, intro zooming into the gem and transitioning into the colon was next level, funny af, best score of the year by far, i can really go on and on.
Im curious as to why you didn't like it or more importantly thought it was "horse s***"

I unfortunately spent money to watch it in theaters :/
I guess I could see how there was “never a dull moment” but personally it just came off as having too many sub plots... The whole movie felt like it lacked structure and rushed af
There’s never just one thing going on it’s always trying to juggle too much and that’s not bad, but the movie just doesn’t do it well
I felt frustrated by the plot most of the time and annoyed by a lot of the characters, the only somewhat like-able character was Howie and even then I didn’t really feel much after the movie ended (trying to be vague as to not spoil s***)
There’s Also so much screaming and loud talking, it just sounds like a mess, I would constantly miss out on important plot dialogue, because they thought having 3 people yelling and 2 conversing would add something??
I actually left the theater with a raging headache and I’m only 20 like wtf
About halfway through I just wanted the movie to end, it was a long 2hrs and whatever minutes lol
I honestly enjoyed the trailer more than the movie lol
Opinions?
Thanks for not attacking me or getting asshurt by the way lmao
