Another Round
9/10
Just watched, definitely agree found myself locked in very quickly & the runtime finished out quicker than expected
Also the movie made me fear how attractive it seems to drink but by the end I definitely was disgusted lol
Was abouta watch off the strength of the color scheme but
THREE HOURS?!
Is that s*** fire / engaging at least?!
Tbh it is a movie that moves as slowly as a you can imagine, little happen during the 3 hours
I can only say I was captivated by the film but the scenario is no Finch or Nolan for sure
Mia Goth is an amazing horror actress
8.5/10
Instant classic horror movie for me, Mia Goth is phenomenal in this (especially in the monologue scene)
youd be surprised it has a certain undeniable magic
youre not wrong about those later ones being dogshit
first time on in foerver
elric posting comments itt with don draper shrug
everythig is still the same
I can’t believe I’ve just now watched this. This might go down as one of my favorite movies ever nfs lmao
Been on a Action/Thriller binge the past few days since catching Covid and watched The Town for the first time (well 3x now). What a film!
I rewatched apocalypse now (my top5 favorite movie) and we need to talk about how Marlon Brando's weight is not only a non-issue but actually fits the movie fine
I wouldn't really write this if not for the fact that under EVERY AN video there are comments talking about Brando and his weight gain. its obviously mythologized and a very simple observation. For some it might seem unnatural knowing how fit he was for the majority of his on-screen career, but man this is such a non-issue when you think about it. I srsly hope most people have moved on since then when talking about the film. He's not even that fat lol they shot him at all the right angles
And in terms of how it fits the movie here's what I think: just like the process of shooting AN itself it is subversive in what we might expect from Kurtz (what his military profile and a single photo tells us) and if we have prior knowledge of Brando, but its not super off-brand for what had happened after he went AWOL from the movie perspective. All soldiers throughout the movie are skinny or kinda fit, and Coppola shows that basically they don't really know what they're doing; for all their seeming physical prowess (and the advancements of the great American army and what have you) they do stupid bullshit like surfing under fire or just dying for the f*** of it ('a spear').
Now with Kurtz, here's this man who comprehends war on a level not many people do, even as high up as Pentagon (his initial classified report). At the same time, he doesn't even look like your average ultimate warrior; actually he looks quite a bit like someone who would end up in the upper ranks of whatever us military office there is. Oh and if we further extend the metaphor of big American men and their American machinery; think how Kurtz performs his off-screen kill on Chef -- he cuts his f\*\*\*ing head off lol looking like an absolute looney too. not even shooting him, just going primordial on the guy
Not claiming this as some sort of groundbreaking character a***ysis (im sure that I'm actually parroting a lot of 'contemporary' discourse around the movie if it exists) but yeh something to get off my chest here
how was it?
