Also how do you approach ratings cause I seen @Twilight post

Personally I usually use the 10 system even for music as

    1 - unlistenable / unwatchable
    2 - horrible
    3 - very bad
    4 - bad
    5 - average
    6 - fine / replayable once
    7 - good
    8 - very good/remarkable
    9 - near perfect
10 - perfect (probably like 10 movies tops)

I find it accurate most of the time and no decimals

  • Finally got around to The Batman (2022). I don't ever wanna hear a f***in thing about some Nolan Batman trilogy after this. This movie blows all them s***s out the water. I just love how this Batman is much more grounded and realistic (as realistic as a superhero movie can get at least) than others. I think what makes me enjoy this one more than other Batman movies is that this really leans more heavily into the detective side of Batman. Making it feel more like a crime/thriller movie than a superhero flick.

The movie also does a great job of characterizing the city of Gotham. You really get a great sense of the city being a living and breathing entity with so much seediness and crime abound from the common street thugs to big name mobster guys to the Gotham City Police Department.

Another thing I love about this is that we follow a younger Batman. In this Batman, he's seemingly already been at it for a few years so we don't have to constantly be reminded of "MY PARENTS ARE DEAD!", but we can see that he isn't this perfect fighter despite being more than capable. Regular street guys and bouncers are able to get some shots in on him. You see throughout the movie the toll all the fighting, gunshots, explosions, etc take on him over time. In the Nolan Batman movies, sure you got the Bane "Break the bat" or "What's the point of doing all those push-ups?" moments, but it never really feels like Batman is in true danger. Robert Pattinson's Batman is of course a skilled fighter, but you often see him getting hit in scraps. You're reminded that "Yeah this is just a dude in a costume with some handy tools and gadgets here and there. But it's...almost mundane in a sense.

He does regular plain clothes reconnaissance on a basic ass motorcycle, he uses binoculars, he sizes up a situation and sticks to the dark because it's almost like a dude dressed in bat costume is a dead giveaway. It just adds to the more "realistic" nature of this iteration. But even in the moments when Bruce is in costume at the bat, the way he sticks to the shadows and how his footsteps are emphasized when he's approaching...the s*** is just chilling, and you understand what people are genuinely terrified whenever that Bat signal goes up.

I can go on and on about The Riddler and how I think he's the best villain a Batman movie has produced in a long f***in time, but I think I've said plenty already. I love this movie. I'm really excited about the kind of Gotham this movie has crafted, and I'm excited to see where it continues to go from here. Hopefully The Joker isn't a main villain and remains something of a deranged info broker Batman goes to as alluded to in the deleted scene. He adds an element of untrustworthiness despite him carrying vital info on Batman's rogue gallery. It makes for a more interesting dynamic between Batman and the Joker, while also not overdoing it with Joker. Let's give him a rest and give other Batman villains some shine.

The only knock I gotta give the movie is that yeah, it's long as s***, and there's some more in the movie that didn't really add all that much to the overall narrative. Makes for good world building at the very least though.

Chris Evans is just so God damn d***-me-down scrumptious in Infinity War.

edit: so it really is dumb ass Starlord's fault that Thanos gets the last stone tbh

So I decided to watch the MCU in order and I'm watching The Incredible Hulk for the first time in probably over ten years. They retconned this movie I'm assuming?

Hulk is present. Has a supersonic clap that can negate a gas explosion????

Also the intro was so weird. They basically summarized all the events of beginning in the title card sequence.

Really really liked it, expected something more turned up in the vein of the first 30 minutes but was pleasantly surprised

Probably my least favorite watch in a long time. A movie like this needs to sell me on chemistry & has to make me care for the characters, which it didn’t.
