Well acted, well directed. Special shout to the score. Very good. Characters ranged from good to fine. Things were arranged in a scattershot way. Will require a rewatch. Brain is fuzzy from a slight background headache before the movie and then compounded with an IPA.
8.2 on first watch

Amazing movie with amazing songs
I HAVE to watch.
Crossroads
Written by Shonda Rhimes, comfort food type of coming of age movie. If you're a fan you will like it, if not why are you even watching this, and so on... I commend Tamra Davis for making Britney Spears, Zoe Saldana and Taryn Manning have chemistry between one another and it's mindblowing to see where their careers have gone since then and in context of everything Britney wrote in her new book. Dan Aykroyd reprises his role as everybody's 90s dad. I think the only thing that clouded this plot the most was the forced romance, like why not make a movie just about friendship? Anyway.
4/5
piqued my interest even more in the series now, incredible movie
Nimona (2023, Netflix)

Nice take on a fairytale, if you are looking for something lighthearted
Unfortunately, this was very disappointing. The first one had me dying laughing, but I didn't laugh once this time and the story is not as engaging. "Trolls" felt like a proper movie, but "Trolls World Tour" feels more like a TV special expanding the lore of the franchise I guess? But I think the biggest reason is that a lot is happening all the time. There are many characters but the movie is very short, and the sensory overload with all the different types of music and visuals all the time is crazy.
Still a fine movie and an interesting addition to the franchise, but that's it.
Killers of the Flower Moon (2023):

I hope all those devils burned in hell, including Leo's character
American Fiction (2023): 4/5
Bamboozled with books and way less visceral, I loved it. Wright and Sterling killed it in this.
Can anyone help me remember a movie. I think I got the suggestion from this thread but can’t find the name of it.
It was like a Japanese lead singer guy in a punk band just getting drunk, f’n girls and fighting. Totally not appropriate. Probably from the 80’s. Pretty sure it was in subtitles as well. Thanks
Anybody?
Hidden Figures - 10/10
Such an underrated biographical film about the black female NASA mathematicians Dorothy Vaughan, Katherine Goble Johnson, Mary Jackson and more who helped us get into space. I wish they stuck to complete historical accuracy so that people could have referenced it. The artistic changes weren't really necessary so I don't get why they did it, but I also feel like if you go into this movie not knowing anything about their story you wouldn't even know and they didn't really cloud how much I just loved seeing it all in color.
watched at the cinema when i was 13
this is such a 2011 movie. 😭 the soundtrack, the flash mobs, the tablets/tech boom of that period
it’s weird watching a film from that era that already feels like the “past” to me
Once upon a time in america. Watched it at work on YouTube for first time ever, can't believe I never watched this masterpiece. Just as good as the godfather in my book , James woods murdered that part
Mighty Peking Man
Ran this after watching a few others from the ShawScope Vol. 1 set and it has some very eyebrow raising uses of brownface, jungle lingerie, and what I can only assume were heavily tranquilized wild animals. Pretty entertaining and def something to watch with a big group.
