I'm actually not suggesting he save the album for next year because I think COVID-19 or its effects would have magically disappeared by then. I just think he should push a few singles before dropping the album, kinda like how he did with Scorpion. I think he should push like 3 singles within 6/7 months and THEN drop the album. That's what will give the album legs. If he rushes to drop the album this summer without having some singles out and doing damage, he'll be playing himself because the album won't have any sort of longevity.
I do think it's a bad moment to drop if you can't tour or do TV performances. This performances from home are kinda weak.
I like the idea of dropping some hits before the album, except for the fact that he just did it, so you don't really miss him since he just dropped singles and a project.
Still want the album tho.

I want the album as well. I just think he should have some singles out before he goes that.
I want one single max. This album is suppose to be his most introspective yet. For once I want the numbers to take the backseat and have the music much more serious.
Yup. I agree with both of your points. This isn't the optimum time to take in music. But "this" lifestyle is going to be the new normal for the foreseeable future (and I don't see Drake delaying the album for another 12-18 months).
The album gonna drop when its polished and ready. Well said.

Imho I think he should just surprise drop it outta nowhere
To be honest with you I never saw the point of doing that. Idk why, but it just doesn’t make sense (to me) to do that. What does anyone gain from that happening? Ig surprise element is there, but what does surprise add to Drake music

I think it’s mostly a psychological thing tbh. It’s like receiving a gift from someone unexpectedly for no apparent reason and attaching the gift (in this case, music) to that feeling forever. I also think it doesn’t really work if you don’t execute it right or have a team as super airtight as let’s say, Beyonce’s. Even with Drake’s semi “surprise” projects or songs, it usually leaks days or hours before bc someone with info feels the need to flex with it when they shouldn’t have it anyway if it’s a surprise.
I prefer traditional rollouts. Only thing Drake gains by doing by a surprise drop is the industry not knowing when to fw him lol. But even then, im sure anybody who wanted to get their hands on a release date bad enough, could. Industry is small.
I do love that we dont find out who is officially on his album til the day of though. Keep that tracklist under wraps long as possible.
I guess they had some second thoughts after saying it was already finished
They never said that, was a common reach and misconception though
A nice end of July or early August release would be optimal.
We looking at late August / early September best case
