I don’t usually like this mindset or way of thinking about beats and sampling

But

There’s a world where you do this same concept and re-sampling and really make it hit hard but they did this so lazily. Driest drums ever, 808 is so muddy that it barely hits, sample is so stretched out and ugly processed to the point of barely even ringing out or sounding like anything

edit: 808 off key too. not playing the right bass line notes even slightly

im not a fan of that necessarily but there is at least some attempt to re-contextualize the sample from an older song into a different subgenre

for me the bad ones are like this nine vicious song where he's sampling something that's already essentially the same subgenre and isn't even that old of a song, like it's practically a glorified cover

Im sure theres examples of lazy samples that have lazy songwriting behind it , making it a dud if a song. But as you pointed out, this aint one of them!! If you can make a hit / catchy song off some s*** like this, why not?
