Do y’all really consider non-street rappers corny?
Or is that they aren’t packaged a certain way or aren’t considered cool that y’all automatically label them as corny.
And I not talking about the NF/Eminem type rappers, I’m talking about the J.Cole type rappers.

I mean if thats the case you would be calling Andre 3K, Cole and Jay Electronica corny. 3 of the best in the game undisputed
They find them corny cause they think niggas only like street rappers and they’ll say anything to pander to that crowd.
why would i label them corny
No I like non street rappers. Often times they make the best music. Its the fans of those rappers that I dislike because they look down on other types of music

who is "y'all"?
some fans do because street s*** is the only thing in hip-hop they see as cool. in my eyes, its far from corny to rap about regular / non-street life, if anything those are the best artists because they have to be more inventive and try to frame their experiences as just as intense and cinematic as a rapper that raps exclusively about murdering people.
Street rap/drill has a ceiling
Artist like Kendrick can sell 200K+ in this era because people think his music will touch them
Drill artists have a cap cuz mainly youth is taking in the music
Imo street rap way more corny cuz there’s only a certain amount of niggas doin what they say
A lot of non-street rappers package their music in corny ways
Doing weird gimmicks for hype, forcing aesthetics and “eras”, trying hard to appeal to the street crowd when that’s not who they are, etc
Depends on what you consider non street
Travis, Yeat, etc arent street but i dont consider them corny
I don’t find cole corny, I just think he’s an underwhelming artist
I think the string of features he's been on recently have been excellent

Tbh I don’t think I’ll ever be satisfied with a cole verse. Like even his “better” ones are verse I feel like I just gotta tolerate. I don’t hate him, in fact I think dreamville is a solid label and he seems like a decent guy.
I just do not care for cole. He isn’t for me. That said, yea I guess his recent verses that I’ve heard have been okay

Fair enough. Different folks, different strokes

I’ve seen a lot of people on this site automatically discredit non-street rappers because they “don’t get played outside” or because they don’t make trendy music.
